About Austin Wildlife Rescue

Austin Wildlife Rescue rehabilitates and releases orphaned, sick, and injured wild animals and educates the public to coexist with wildlife.

Austin Wildlife Rescue serves the citizens and wildlife of Central Texas by providing direct assistance to the public concerning questions, problems, and conflicts with native wildlife. Austin Wildlife Rescue accomplishes this mission by:

  1. Training staff to operate a telephone hotline in order to assist with wildlife inquiries from the public;
  2. Supporting qualified rehabilitators to provide quality care to orphaned and injured wildlife until they can be returned to their native habitat; and
  3. Providing educational programs designed to eliminate or mitigate conflicts between humans and wildlife.

Internship Details

Students are hired as animal care interns. These are unpaid internship positions. Interns are expected to work 2-3 days a week, for 10 hour shifts each (so 20-30 hours per week). They will be feeding and cleaning the animals at the facility where they will learn about what diets are appropriate for each species through each developmental phase, how to hand feed various species from birds, reptiles, and mammals. They will learn how to give basic oral medications and can even observe medical treatments as they come up in the animals when they are present! About Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI)

Founded in 2002, the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to discover, preserve, provide access to, and educate the community about Texas’ film heritage. TAMI partners with the Office of the Governor’s Texas Film Commission to administer the Texas Film Round-Up program, which provides free digitization for Texas-related films and videotapes, online access to a selection of the contributed materials, and statewide public programming, as well as creates educator resources using these newly digitized Texas media in the classroom. Digital Curation and Engagement Intern / Volunteer Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI)
  • Work hours: Approximately 10+ hours/week. Flexible hours.
  • Salary: Unpaid
  • Location: Work from home until TAMI’s offices reopen (TBD) at 3908 Avenue B, Suite 306, Austin, TX 78751 – the new HQ building for the Alamo Drafthouse
  • Description: The intern will assist the Interim Director, Curator and Marketing Manager in creating and implementing TAMI’s Google Arts and Culture exhibits as well as curating, describing, editing, and uploading content to YouTube as a part of TAMI’s existing YouTube strategy and the Google Arts and Culture initiative. Additionally, the intern will create and implement strategies for distribution and promotion via social media, email marketing, and TAMI’s website. Additional tasks may include day to day assistance with social media, email marketing, and website content.
  • Qualifications: Applicants should be familiar with social video platforms, a passion for media (and hopefully!) media history, and be able to manage tasks and problem-solve independently. They should also have basic video editing and graphic design skills and either access to Photoshop, InDesign, PremierPro, and Illustrator or the ability to download and run these programs on their personal computer.

Digital Production Intern Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI)
  • Work hours: Approximately 10+ hours/week. Flexible hours.
  • Salary: Unpaid
  • Location: Work from home until TAMI’s offices reopen (TBD) at 3908 Avenue B, Suite 306, Austin, TX 78751 – the new HQ building for the Alamo Drafthouse
  • Description: The intern will work with TAMI’s Interim Director, Audiovisual Archivist and Marketing Manager to develop videos, a podcast and/or a series of videos using content from the archive as a client-driven project. The intern will be responsible for developing a motion graphics package for use in the series and future productions. The intern will also have access to TAMI’s archival video content for use in a creative project of their choosing with some limitations. TAMI will also accept applications from students specializing in either editing or motion graphics/animation.
  • Qualifications: Applicants should be familiar with social video platforms, a passion for media (and hopefully!) media history, and be able to manage tasks and problem-solve independently. Internship Information

We are seeking interns for our Development Department, with a focus on fundraising, events, and marketing. We are flexible on hours per week and happy to adapt to the internship requirements. Interested students should email Rachel Parr at rparr@riseschoolaustin.org with a resume and cover letter to express their interest in applying for an internship. We ask that students be prepared to share any requirements such as hours needed, or areas of study if they are conducting a research project, so that we can ensure the internship meets their requirements, and that we can provide the best experience for their course of study. Rise is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and internships are unpaid.

The Rise School & COVID-19

Health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We continue to monitor the situation in Austin and adapt our procedures accordingly. As the beginning of the fall semester gets closer, we will determine whether remote, in-person, or a combination makes the most sense for our staff. If in-person, the student(s) would report to our Austin office at 4800 Manor Rd, Bldg J, Austin, TX 78723. They would be required to wear a mask and would be screened upon entry for signs/symptoms of COVID-19. Staff will maintain a distance of at least 6ft at all times, and masks will be worn for all meetings or when staff members are in close proximity. If conducted remotely, we will utilize virtual platforms such as zoom to conduct meetings, training, and assign tasks to be worked on remotely. Regular check-ins will be scheduled to ensure the student(s) have a positive and educational experience.
