The Prevention Research Lab seeks summer undergraduate research assistants

The Prevention Research Lab, operated by Dr. Keryn E. Pasch in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, is searching for summer undergraduate research assistants. Undergraduates research assistants (URAs) will work on a study, using eye-tracking technology and quantitative surveys, to better understand the influence of fast food television commercials on 350 children aged 2-11. URAs will help administer the study protocol with the children and parents, code and enter data, and assist with other research tasks as needed. Additional research opportunities such as literature searching, transcribing, and data summaries may be available.

REQUIREMENTS:
A flexible summer schedule with at least a four hour block of time available on at least three days a week is preferred. We will collect data on weeknights and weekends so availability on these days is also needed.

Willingness and ability to work with youth, a background check will be conducted.

Prior research experience is a plus but not necessary.

BENEFITS:
Hands-on experience with the research process, with an emphasis on the relationship between media and health outcomes among youth.

Bridging Disciplines or other research credit offered if you qualify – please let us know if you are considering BDP credit or other research credit when you contact us.

Summer internship opportunity with Great Wall of China Adoptions/Children of All Nations

Interns work with our outreach and marketing team, case managers, waiting child counselors, and referral teams to receive hands-on experience with families in the adoption process. Archer Fellowship Program – February 22nd Deadline

Interested in learning about public policy firsthand by living, interning, and taking in-residence classes in Washington, D.C., for a fall or spring semester? If the answer is yes, the Archer Fellowship Program may be for you!

The Archer Fellowship Program provides the opportunity to work in our nation’s capital while making progress toward a UT degree. Home to many government, media, and cultural institutions, Washington, D.C., offers unparalleled opportunities for career development and cultural enrichment. Moreover, the program’s unique combination of academic and experiential learning allows students to combine their intellectual and professional interests in a challenging academic environment.

Archer Fellows study and intern in Washington, D.C., during a fall or spring semester. Past internship placements include the White House, the Supreme Court, the World Bank, National Public Radio, MSNBC, the Sierra Club, and the Department of Education, among many others. Students find their own internships, with support from Archer Center staff, so that they may pursue the internship experience that best aligns with their goals and interests. BDP students selected as Archer Fellows may be able to propose their DC internship as a connecting experience.
