Internship Opportunities Available with Latinitas

Latinitas is a non-profit organization that enables young Latinas to achieve personal and academic success through media and technology outreach thereby addressing the critical state of Latina girls today. While Latina girls ages 12 to 17 are the largest group of minority girls in the country, they are more likely than their non-Hispanic peers to face the four most serious threats to achieving success: depression, pregnancy, substance abuse and becoming a high school drop out. The solution lies in empowering these young Latinas, strengthening their confidence and expanding their opportunities. With a variety of enriching experiences, Latinitas discover their voice and develop media skills while building a solid foundation for their future.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

  • Provide a creative outlet for girls to express themselves, learn about their culture and discover their voice.
  • Help girls stay in school and be prepared for higher education.
  • Foster the career exploration and S.T.E.M. exposure of girls to be prepared to enter the workforce of the 21st century.
  • Connect girls with positive role models and mentors.
  • Strengthen girls’ confidence, self-esteem and cultural identity.
  • Connect girls with media and technology tools and access.
  • Promote leadership development, goal setting, social justice advocacy & community service among girls.

Latinitas’s life blood is the volunteers and interns that offer their time to our efforts.  We staff up every semester and are looking for the best and the brightest of the candidates who apply.  Latinitas is also an Official Off-Campus Site for the UT Workstudy Program.

Location: Latinitas Office at 4926 E. Cesar Chavez St. Austin, TX 78702 and an Elementary or Middle School within the Austin district
Job Type: Part-Time Intern (15 hours per week)
Compensation: College scholarship/stipend. (college credit – optional)

Austin’s Startup Weekend Feb. 6-8 (student discount)

Spring 2015 Internships available with EnviroMedia

Internships are available at EnviroMedia Social Marketing for passionate, dependable students.

Headquartered in Austin, EnviroMedia provides sustainability communications and consulting services to the world’s most innovative agents of change. Areas of focus include air, water, energy, waste, and alternative transportation.

Interns at EnviroMedia gain hands-on experience and the opportunity to interact in all facets of the business. Working under the guidance of experienced professionals you will learn the skills needed to excel in an agency environment. Interested students should have an eager desire to learn and demonstrate strong organizational and writing skills.

EnviroMedia offers the following paid internships:

The first day of internships for the spring 2015 semester is on January 20, and the last day of the internships is on May 8. There is a mandatory orientation on Monday, January 19, before the first day of class.

Interviews for the spring semester begin the second week of November. The deadline for spring internship applications is December 30.
