Internships at Well Aware

Overview of Well Aware’s Internship program

Well Aware’s internship program is designed to provide undergraduate and graduate students with an educational experience in implementation of clean water systems in Africa; community development, training and education in Well Aware project regions; development and/or organization and administration of Well Aware’s Austin office.

Interns will be assigned a supervisor that will oversee and guide their experience.

 


Office Intern

Well Aware currently offers a position as office intern for summer and fall. Starting in May/June or September. You handle miscellaneous tasks such as picking up packages, writing thank you notes, and support general administration.

 

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Maintaining donor and grant databases and files, including calendaring deadlines, logging donations, generating and sending donor acknowledgements, logging donor appreciation efforts
  • Supporting staff with logistics associated with special events, including assisting with creation of invitation list, all logistics, soliciting sponsors, communicating with venue and vendors
  • Attending/Volunteering at special events
  • Tracking and evaluating all development efforts
  • Working with Board of Directors Development Committee to implement development strategies

 

Ideal Candidates Must:

  • Be responsible, flexible, hard‐working, ethical, and committed to the mission of Well Aware
  • Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Possess solid oral and written communication skills
  • Be skilled at a variety of computer skills, e.g., Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Be able to operate standard office equipment
  • Able to handle multiple task at one time
  • Possess an interest in a nonprofit career ‐ particularly development and fundraising
  • Available for at least 8 hours a week
  • Must have transportation
  • Must have laptop

 

 


Business Development Intern

Well Aware currently offers a position as business development intern for summer and fall. Starting in May/June or September. You will assist fundraising, email outreach, campaign planning and execution, grant writing, and will assist in setting up events.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Maintaining donor and grant databases and files, including calendaring deadlines, logging donations, generating and sending donor acknowledgements, logging donor appreciation efforts
  • Supporting staff with logistics associated with special events, including assisting with creation of invitation list, all logistics, soliciting sponsors, communicating with venue and vendors
  • Tracking and evaluating all development efforts
  • Working with Board of Directors Development Committee to implement development strategies

Ideal Candidates Must:

  • Be responsible, flexible, hard‐working, ethical, and committed to the mission of Well Aware

Social Media Intern

Well Aware currently offers a position as social media intern for summer and fall.

Starting in May/June or September. You will be devoted to all of our media channels (facebook, twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn…) This includes assisting in content and creation.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Maintaining donor and grant databases and files, including calendaring deadlines, logging donations, generating and sending donor acknowledgements, logging donor appreciation efforts
  • Supporting staff with logistics associated with special events, including assisting with creation of invitation list, all logistics, soliciting sponsors, communicating with venue and vendors
  • Attending/Volunteering at special events
  • Tracking and evaluating all development efforts
  • Working with Board of Directors Development Committee to implement development strategies

Internship at A Glimmer of Hope- Spring 2018

Glimmer hires interns on a rolling basis for the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters. Interns will assist with a variety of work in and across internal teams where their skills are most necessary.

A Glimmer of Hope empowers rural Ethiopian communities to end the cycle of poverty. Our clean water, education, health care and microfinance projects create a powerful force for change.

We are looking for an upper level undergraduate or Master’s level Intern who is interested in international development or international affairs.

POSITION MAY INCLUDE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Reviewing project completion documents and photos for accuracy,
  • Maintaining program/project records in our project management database,
  • Reviewing proposals and reports from our construction partners in Ethiopia,
  • Preparing proposals and reports for donors,
  • Communicating with Addis Ababa, Ethiopia office on program tasks,
  • Helping to organize our media content libraries,
  • Contributing to and helping build Glimmer’s online presence,
  • Writing and editing copy; assisting with visual storytelling;
  • Executing tasks on quick deadlines

COMMITMENT:

We’re looking for a part-time intern to come to our Austin office each semester (schedule is flexible). Please only apply if you are located in Austin, Texas.

Miracle Foundation Summer 2017 Internships

Internship at the Miracle Foundation

Miracle Foundation brings life-changing care to the world’s orphans. Together with our supporters, we transform local orphanages into homes, train displaced women to become cherished mothers, and fund scholarships for education. Our goal is to have each orphan become a healthy, happy, income-producing person – and break out of the cycle of poverty.

We are seeking interns in Office Admin, Development, Programs, and Finance for Summer 2017. The application deadline is May 14, 2017. Our Austin headquarters is open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm and Friday 9 am to 4 pm. In almost all cases, we can only accommodate interns and volunteers during business hours.
