Summer Internship Opportunity with Community TechKnowledge

Community TechKnowledge, Inc (CTK) seeks a high-caliber intern to perform a focused research study on international non-profit and public sector markets.  Austin-based CTK is a leading provider of client data management software for non-profits and government agencies across the US, Canada, UK, and Mexico.  The ideal candidate will have academic experience and aspirations in international business development, social/human services, and the SaaS business model.  Stipend provided.
This internship will encompass the following:
  •  Identify viable international markets for CTK software
  • Research business, non-profit and governmental infrastructures by country
  • Research country-specific security guidelines and protocols as they relate to online software services
  • Research stakeholders and decision processes per country
  • Assist CTK’s Business Development dept in the design of an international development plan

Development Gateway Summer Internships Available

Development Gateway, a Washington D.C. based non-profit organization working on international aid management, and Innovations for Peace and Development, a research consortium at UT, are urgently seeking part- and full-time summer interns to provide data analysis support on an interdisciplinary project to better track global development assistance in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development.

Under the direction of Drs. Michael Findley and Catherine Weaver, the team of student researchers will geo-reference and categorize project-level data provided by donor governments. This summer, the project will begin geocoding aid projects in the following countries: Nepal, Senegal, Haiti, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.Training in GIS systems and coding methodologies will be provided.

Interns will also have the opportunity to learn tools for analyzing foreign aid data in conjunction with a variety of development outcomes including food security, health, climate change, democratization, and conflict.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must be current undergraduates or graduate students and must have demonstrated interest in geospatial systems, international development, economics, or political science. French speakers and students with GIS experience are highly encouraged to apply as well.

Internships will begin as soon as possible and will continue throughout the summer, with possibility of a continued position with the Innovation for Peace and Development research team in the fall semester. Interns are expected to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week, and preferably will be able to commit between 30-40 hours per week in the summer.

Ted Strauss Civic Internship Awards – Apply by April 29th for $2,000

Ted Strauss Civic Internship Awards

University of Texas undergraduate students who will not be graduating before December 2013 are invited to apply for The Ted Strauss Civic Internship Award to supplement their paid or unpaid internship in the fields of public policy, public service, government, or politics for the summer.  Previous award winners have worked for CNN, the U.S. Department of Education, the United States Senate, Defenders of Wildlife, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, among other organizations and governmental agencies.

Amount of the stipend:  $2,000

Internship Requirements:

  • Internship must be in the area of public policy, public service, government, or politics.
  • Must be an undergraduate and not be graduating before December 2013.
  • Internship must be a minimum of 10 hours a week for 10 weeks.
  • Internship must not include more than 25% clerical work.
  • Course credit is preferred, but not required.

Expectations by the Institute: The recipients will be expected to write a summary of their experience by September 15, 2013 and to make a brief oral report at the Strauss Institute’s advisory council meeting following their internship experience if requested.
