Fall Events and Programs Intern
The Johnson Center for Child Health & Development is a non-profit organization that provides supports and services to children with autism, developmental delays and other special needs. We serve children and families from all over the country. We host a number of of community events and educational opportunities for families and professionals, including holiday events, educational webinars, and onsite workshops. We are looking for a dedicated intern to help plan, promote, and support these critical events and classes.
We are looking for a student who is willing to take initiative, meet deadlines, has good attention to detail, and can work with multiple clinicians and professionals to execute their plans. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your leadership skills, work closely with professionals, families, and children in both a clinical and nonclinical setting, and be an integral part of our team.
Schedule is flexible; office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, with very limited evening and weekend hours (for events).

Research Intern

Clinical Support Intern
The Johnson Center for Child Health & Development is a non-profit organization that provides supports and services to children with autism, developmental delays and other special needs. We serve children and families from all over the country and have multi-disciplinary clinic that provides diagnostic and assessment services, counseling, feeding therapy, behavioral therapy, and nutrition and medical intervention and support.
We are looking for a student who has an interest in childhood development and the clinical treatment and supports provided to children with developmental disorders and their families. The right student is eager to learn and be a part of the overall process of providing meaningful support and therapeutic intervention. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about multi-disciplinary care.

Community Meal Facilitators
Fall Interns Needed to participate in the Home Cooked Fridays program. Community Meal Facilitators will provide front line service management to an underserved community; all work is on or near campus.
Interns will be involved with and responsible for planning and implementing a weekly meal service for homeless and/or financially challenged individuals and families. Tasks include meal planning, working with community organizations on food recovery and pantries, social media promotions, project management, and more.
Cooking experience and/or experience working with the homeless community is a plus, but not mandatory.
Interns must be available on Fridays from 12-6 (when the meal is served).
We support students looking for independent study projects.
In addition to these internships, we welcome volunteers to help on program dates; volunteers assist with greeting, serving, preparing, and cleaning (as well as occasionally holding sleeping babies). Musically inclined volunteers are also welcome to provide entertainment for our guests.

Job Description: The internship is based in Austin and provides general support for the CDF-TX Youth Civic Education and Engagement initiative. The intern works 20 hours/week supporting both our policy and organizing work to increase youth civic education and engagement.
The intern is someone deeply committed to empowering young people to be actively engaged in their communities and to ensuring young people are represented in the decision-making process in their local and state government.
The youth civic engagement intern provides substantive policy research and reports and monitors interim legislative committees and the State Board of Education on improving youth civic engagement and education in Texas. Additionally, the intern assists with outreach to partners and school districts on behalf of the Texas Civic Education Roundtable to support the prioritization of culturally sustaining civic education in Texas’ public school classrooms.
The intern also supports outreach to young people statewide to support our high school voter registration campaign, as well as provides critical support in developing training curriculums to support young people’s knowledge of and engagement with state legislative and local civic processes.
