About Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI)

Founded in 2002, the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to discover, preserve, provide access to, and educate the community about Texas’ film heritage. TAMI partners with the Office of the Governor’s Texas Film Commission to administer the Texas Film Round-Up program, which provides free digitization for Texas-related films and videotapes, online access to a selection of the contributed materials, and statewide public programming, as well as creates educator resources using these newly digitized Texas media in the classroom. Available Positions

Digital Curation and Engagement Intern / Volunteer Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI)
  • Work hours: Approximately 10+ hours/week. Flexible hours.
  • Salary: Unpaid
  • Location: Work from home until TAMI’s offices reopen (TBD) at 3908 Avenue B, Suite 306, Austin, TX 78751 – the new HQ building for the Alamo Drafthouse
  • Description: The intern will assist the Interim Director, Curator and Marketing Manager in creating and implementing TAMI’s Google Arts and Culture exhibits as well as curating, describing, editing, and uploading content to YouTube as a part of TAMI’s existing YouTube strategy and the Google Arts and Culture initiative. Additionally, the intern will create and implement strategies for distribution and promotion via social media, email marketing, and TAMI’s website. Additional tasks may include day to day assistance with social media, email marketing, and website content.
  • Qualifications: Applicants should be familiar with social video platforms, a passion for media (and hopefully!) media history, and be able to manage tasks and problem-solve independently. They should also have basic video editing and graphic design skills and either access to Photoshop, InDesign, PremierPro, and Illustrator or the ability to download and run these programs on their personal computer.

Digital Production Intern Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI)
  • Work hours: Approximately 10+ hours/week. Flexible hours.

  • Description: The intern will work with TAMI’s Interim Director, Audiovisual Archivist and Marketing Manager to develop videos, a podcast and/or a series of videos using content from the archive as a client-driven project. The intern will be responsible for developing a motion graphics package for use in the series and future productions. The intern will also have access to TAMI’s archival video content for use in a creative project of their choosing with some limitations. TAMI will also accept applications from students specializing in either editing or motion graphics/animation.

Visual Arts Center Year-Long Internship Available – Remote for Fall

 

VAC CURATORIAL INTERN // 2020–2021

 

OVERVIEW

The Curatorial Intern is supervised by the VAC Director and will work closely with the entire VAC team, and specifically the Director, Gallery Manager, Chief Preparator, and Curatorial Fellow. Primary responsibilities include assisting with upcoming exhibitions, public programs, and development initiatives. This includes research for spring 2021 exhibitions, including an online and pop-up exhibition that will open to the public in April 2021; exhibitions scheduled to open in Fall 2021; and a large group exhibition slated to open in Fall 2022. The Curatorial Intern will work with the Director and the VAC Gallery Manager on public programming for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, including artist talks, conversations and other forms of programming. The Curatorial Intern will assist the Director with development research, including foundation and donor research, creating Excel spreadsheets, maintaining correspondence with donors, assisting with development programming in-person and online.

The Curatorial Internship is a 10 – 15 hour per week position starting Sept 1, 2020 and ending May 31, 2021. During the fall semester, work can be performed remotely.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Director with research for upcoming exhibitions at the VAC, such as creating artist files for each artist; supporting artist in residence research at UT; assisting with other organizational tasks.
  • Research related to upcoming exhibitions and create electronic research files for this material.
  • Compile high resolution images and image captions for artist files to be used for VAC website and press purposes.
  • Draft artist biographies for use on the VAC website.
  • Draft exhibition-related texts in consultation with Director and Gallery Manager.
  • Support Director and Gallery Manager with organization and logistics for public programs, including: correspondence, descriptive texts, tech needs, and marketing efforts.
  • Assist Director with development-related research, including foundation and donor research, correspondence, and administrative work.
  • Maintain weekly office hours (in spring 2021) and meet with VAC staff as needed throughout the course of the internship.
  • Maintain weekly gallery hours (as needed).

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

Microsoft Office Suite; Adobe Office Suite; knowledge of contemporary art; excellent communication skills; organized; enthusiastic; enjoys working with others in a collaborative and creative atmosphere.

 

COMPENSATION

The Curatorial Intern will receive $750 per semester, $1500 for the academic year, as well as course credit through the Bridging Disciplines Program.

Summer Remote Internships at the Mexic-Arte Museum

About this Job

Located in the heart of downtown Austin, Mexic-Arte Museum seeks university students to participate in internships for academic credit and educational enrichment. Spring, summer, and fall internships are unpaid and run for 12 weeks with a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week  during office hours (Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm and Friday 9am-5pm). Mexic-Arte Museum also encourages interns to attend its Public Programs.

Mexic-Arte Museum recognizes the importance of interns and seeks flexible, positive, organized, and self-motivated candidates that can work both independently and collaboratively in a professional setting. Interns will apply their creativity, critical thinking skills, and enthusiasm to a wide range of projects under the mentorship of Mexic-Arte Museum professionals.

Internships opportunities under Museum Marketing & Event Planning:

Development:  Working with Development team to assist with donor and media relations, generation of revenue, special events, and database management. Tasks may include data entry, general administrative work, and correspondence.

Social Media and Graphic Design:  Assists in the production of video and/or electronic media resources created for a variety of audiences that help create visibility and awareness for Mexic-Arte’s exhibitions, lectures, public programming, and upcoming events. Other opportunities include the design of signage, programs, and invitations for Mexic-Arte’s educational programs.

Content Development: Duties include planning and writing social media posts, posting blurbs to websites, optimizing content for search engines, planning visual content using editorial social media planner and Hootsuite, creating and implementing content strategies for the various events and programming events coming up, creating content outlines, writing website content, and much more!

Laptops are not required but it is greatly appreciated if you are able to work in a mobile capacity.
