Fall Internship Opportunity – Marketing & Communications
A great internship opportunity is available for a smart, responsible, motivated student to work for the U.S. Green Building Council Central Texas region. USGBC is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to accelerating adoption of green building and land development practices through outreach, education, advocacy and partnerships. Our goal is to enable an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy and prosperous environment that assures quality of life for all Texans.
Title: USGBC Central Texas Marketing & Communications Intern (Unpaid)
Hours: Min. 20 hours per week
Location: Austin, TX
Job Description:
To work with the Regional Council Executive Committee in communications efforts, marketing, social media, and promoting and organizing of events.
Work responsibilities will include:
o Organize luncheons, tours, member happy hours and other special events
o Prepare and disseminate event publicity
o Provide news for the USGBC Texas newsletter and website
o Undertake social media activities in Central Texas
o Create and distribute marketing materials
o Write and pitch press releases
o Prepare membership communications.
Position requirements:
Ideally studying marketing, communications or other related courses
Must be computer and internet savvy; proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop and In-Design an advantage
Prepared to do both innovative and everyday work
Detail oriented, highly organized self-starter
Willing to commit to working hard and, once committed, being reliable
Knowledge of or passion for sustainable building, environmental issues or energy conservation a plus.
