The Rise School of Austin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide the highest quality early childhood education to children of all abilities – gifted, traditional and developmentally delayed – in an inclusive setting, where individualized learning techniques enable every child to reach their maximum potential. At Rise, 50% of our students are traditionally developing, 50% have a developmental delay or disability, and 100% learn together and receive the tools and support they need to succeed. Our organization features a robust therapy program, high-quality educators, and a dedicated administrative and fundraising team that support our mission for inclusion.
The Rise School offers Development, Fundraising, Marketing, and Administrative internships in addition to internships within our Education and Therapy Program.

As a nonprofit organization, all internships are unpaid. We are happy to support students seeking credit hours.
Internship Opportunities:
Fundraising Events
Description: The Rise School hosts two major fundraising events each year including a large gala and golf tournament, in addition to smaller fundraising initiatives throughout the year. The Event Intern will provide assistance with event coordination, donor appreciation, donation solicitation, event software management, auction item management, and other events tasks as necessary.
Marketing
Description: The Rise School of Austin is looking for an energetic and self-motivated marketing intern with a keen eye for design to participate in our marketing efforts including content marketing, preparing promotional presentations, monitoring social platforms, creating mockups of marketing materials including email, mail, and social media campaigns, web management, and conducting market analysis.
Development & Fundraising
Description: The Rise School of Austin is seeking an intern to participate in our Development and Fundraising efforts including assisting with our annual fundraising campaigns, events, and appeals, donor stewardship, grant research, managing and cultivating relationships with donors, alumni, families and staff, participating in coordination of the Junior Board, maintaining records, and coordinating with volunteers.
Administrative
Description: The Rise School is looking for administrative interns to participate in the organization’s day-to-day operations including general office administration, IT, Marketing, etc. Specific areas include data entry and database management, upkeep of webpages, organization of systems, filing, communications, creating internal marketing materials, and other administrative tasks.
Qualifications for above listed internships include:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, emphasis in communications, marketing, administration, or similar field encouraged. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong multitasking and organizational abilities, and computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, utilizing available resources. Must be a team player with a willingness to learn.

Health Promotion Internship with HealthStart Foundation – Summer 2021
COMPANY OVERVIEW:
HealthStart’s mission is to provide the blueprints for building healthier communities through children’s health science education. We teach kids how their body works, what it’s made of, and how this relates to what to eat and how to keep their bodies healthy. HealthStart lessons also teach kids that taking care of one another, and our environment builds community health and wellbeing.
HealthStart seeks an intern interested in building a healthier future for our children by assisting in community outreach, data collection, and our summer Children’s Health Education Workshops (CHEWS). Our Health Promotion Intern will gain experience in pilot program development, evaluation techniques, and nonprofit work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
HealthStart seeks a part-time Health Promotion Intern with highly developed organizational skills, time management, and research skills. Interns work 12-15 hours per week under the supervision of our Program Manager. This experience should be highly transferable to jobs involving program development, evaluation, and health promotion.
Job responsibilities may include:
- Assisting in organizing the development of a 8-week series of Community Health Education Workshops
- Attending and executing a 8-week series of bi-weekly CHEWS at three local Housing Authority of City of Austin locations
- Develop materials that will help HealthStart speak to our competencies in health and science education.
- Assisting with Health Promotion activities, community outreach, and other events that educate and raise HealthStart’s profile
- Assist in organizing and analyzing data collected from program evaluations
- Working directly with HealthStart’s Scientific Committee
- Other health promotion related tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for the position must have experience with or a strong interest in public health, health promotion, evaluation, nonprofit development, or related activity. A strong interest in health and wellness or early childhood education is preferred. Must be familiar with basic computer operations including MS WORD, EXCEL, and the Internet.
In addition, candidates should have some or all of the following skills:
- A willingness to learn new things or new ways of doing things
- Ability to meet deadlines with little or no daily onsite supervision
- Attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Enthusiasm about making a difference
- Local to the Austin area
- BILINGUAL PREFERRED
