Austin Resource Recovery is hiring a research analyst intern. Work for a fun and dynamic City department helping us promote Zero Waste and recycling. Gain real‐world experience supporting a team working on policy and ordinance development projects.
DUTIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
-Experience working productively in a collaborative, team‐oriented environment
-Good analytical and strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to relate to a variety of
individuals
-Ability to analyze and communicate information in numerical and narrative form
-Coordinate meetings with targeted audiences, such as committees, consultants, citizen’s groups, etc.
-Research best practices and ordinances from around the country (zero waste topics)
-Edit technical reports to provide a summary of findings
-Edit presentations and design ancillary graphics to enhance reporting
-Meet with members of the public, consultants, business owners and other city officials to respond to
questions that are relevant to Zero Waste
-Excellent written and oral communication skills, time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines
-Intermediate word processes, spreadsheet, and presentation software experience (MS Office preferred).
-Skill in planning and organizing
-Knowledge of city practice, policy and procedures
-Ability to explain and enforce City policies
-Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public
-Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major coursework in Environmental
Science, Planning, Public Policy, Public Administration, Social Science or related field.
COMPENSATION:
This position is posted for $12/hour to be filled as soon as possible and continue through early
September 2014 for 40 hours per week. End date and hours per week is flexible. Office is located at 1520
Rutherford Lane, Austin, TX 78754.
