About Eastside Community Connections:
(from their website)
In 2002, UT undergraduate Graham Davis attended a speech in which Austin’s resources to fight poverty were discussed. Mr. Davis noticed that the University of Texas (UT) was conspicuously uninvolved in any of the efforts being discussed. He recognized that by involving university students in the effort to fight poverty, a vast pool of energy and resources could be utilized that had until then remained untapped. Thus emerged the idea for Eastside Community Connection (ECC); an opportunity to break down barriers between the UT and east Austin communities.
Eastside Community Connection (ECC) is dedicated to addressing the needs of our community, while training the next generation of civic leaders. During our first ten years, ECC has partnered with area college students and community volunteers to serve over 145,000 central Texans. As ECC enters its second decade, we continue to meet the evolving needs of our community.
