Marathon Kids Seeking Development Intern

What is Marathon Kids™?
Marathon Kids™ is a school-based physical activity and nutrition program serving elementary school aged children in cities across the country.

This year, almost 300,000 children are enrolled in the program. More than 1,200,000 Finishers have completed the 26.2 mile Marathon Kids™ challenge since the program began.

What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for an outgoing, fun, and eager intern who is passionate about changing the lives of children to join our dynamic development department.

About the Fundraising and Development Internship:
The development internship is a 12-week, unpaid position that will aid in the achievement of the Marathon Kids Fundraising and Development goals in the following ways:

  • Provide general administrative and organizational support
  • Research new funding opportunities and aid in the development of funding proposals for individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Event planning, management, and support
  • Salesforce maintenance
  • Donor acknowledgment and cultivation

Other Relevant Information
This position will report directly to both the Research and Development Officer and Grants Coordinator. This is a 12 week, UNPAID, internship.  The length of this internship may be negotiated depending upon circumstances.

Sustainable Food Center Seeking Bilingual Outreach Intern

Position Description:

The Sustainable Food Center‘s Grow Local is looking for an individual passionate about achieving social equality in a local and sustainable food system. The Spread the Harvest Bilingual Outreach Intern will reach out to Latino/a participants to enhance their engagement with the Spread the Harvest program, and connect them with the necessary tools to grow their own food. The intern will cultivate personal relationships with participants via phone calls and in-person meetings for initial orientations and quarterly surveys. The intern will also assist GL staff in developing an evaluation system to gauge the effectiveness of the Spread the Harvest program in the broader Austin community. This internship position is unpaid. Sustainable Food Center is an equal opportunity employer; women and people of color are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Call and meet with Spanish-speaking and phone-only participants with orientation information or to perform quarterly surveys
  • Assist Grow Local Teaching Garden Coordinator with other duties related to Spread the Harvest, such as preparing for biannual Resource Give-Away Days
  • Participate in periodic check-in meetings with SFC Grow Local Teaching Garden Coordinator
  • Assist other Grow Local staff with planning and preparation for other programs associated with Spread the Harvest

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish mandatory
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Basic understanding and passion for the mission of the Sustainable Food Center.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Dedicated team player who is culturally sensitive
  • Dynamic personality with good sense of humor and appreciation for healthy, local food.

Greenlights for Nonprofit Success Summer and Fall Internships – Applications Due March 30

Greenlights is…

  • An affordable provider of nonprofit strengthening and support services
  • An independent, objective 501(c)(3) that understands the unique challenges nonprofits face
  • A voice for and convener of the Central Texas nonprofit community

Internship Program

Greenlights’ Internship Program is a great hands-on experience for anyone who wants to learn about the nonprofit sector. This is a project-based internship program directly supporting the mission and goals of Greenlights. Joining our team as an intern requires a commitment of 12-20 hours per week, and the intern must be available at least three days per week with a regular schedule. Greenlights’ internships are unpaid, however, we are happy to work with you if you would like to receive course credit.

Current internships are available in the following focus areas: Consulting, Development and Membership, Marketing and Communications, and Education. Greenlights works with each intern’s skills and interests to develop a successful project work plan and professional development program. Qualifications

Greenlights actively support interns in their nonprofit interests, but in return we have high expectations of commitment to our values and mission. We’ve found that students with curiosity, an eagerness to learn, a little nonprofit experience, and a sense of fun get the most out of a Greenlights internship.

Greenlights interns are undergraduate and graduate students with a:

  • Strong interest in nonprofit leadership and management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Ability to take initiative managing projects in a fast paced and multi-faceted work environment
  • Solid technical skills, including proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Humor, flexibility, integrity, patience, vision
