Ticket Office Intern
The Ticket Office Intern position is intended to introduce individuals to all aspects of the Long Center’s ticket office operation. Individuals will gain experience in customer service management, day to day operations, event will call and a greater understanding of the Long Center as a whole. The position will focus on assisting with the Group Sales department with lead generation, mailings and season schedule distribution. The Ticket Office Intern will also attend meetings to learn networking and marketing meeting strategies. The intern will also be required to work most events and other non-ticket office events (Guest Services, Development, Marketing or Programming) as assigned.

Education Intern
The Education Intern works closely with the Programming and Communications Manager and the Producer of the Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards to help in a variety of capacities with the preparation, marketing and administration of everything that goes into putting on the Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards. This internship requires a two (2) semester commitment.
Skills/Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in social media (facebook, twitter, tumblr, Instagram, Pitnerest, etc.)
- Savvy with high school students and trends
- Great phone skills to interface with schools, high school students, etc.
- Detail oriented and accountable
- Self-starter; able to work well without constant direction

- Strong computer skills including the use of databases, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
Fundraising Intern
The fundraising intern works regularly with Fundraising & Development, Marketing and Production departments to plan and implement high level special events, promotional events and patron appreciation activities. The ideal candidate will be an organized, mature, personable and detail-oriented with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Intern responsibilities may include:
- Providing support for the major fundraising gala and several smaller exclusive events each season, including Patron Meet and Greets, Donor Appreciation events and donor lounges at concerts and other events, as needed
- Generating and maintaining invitation and related lists for events and the Donor Lounge
- Coordinating benefits mailings and CRM data entry
- Assisting with Annual Anniversary Party auction needs and materials
- Coordinating grants calendar and assisting with applications
- Developing opportunities for promotional events and activities including partnerships with other organizations and individuals
- Monitoring and providing content for social media projects, including Twitter, Facebook, and the Long Story Short blog
Skills/Qualifications
- Strong computer skills including the use of databases, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, but not required
Marketing Intern
The Marketing Department is primarily responsible for the marketing and sales of Long Center Presents productions throughout the season (September – June). The department manages the Long Center’s website and content and coordinates branding and awareness through public relations, printed and collateral materials in support of Long Center Presents. Interns will enhance written and oral communication skills and learn about practical marketing strategies. Intern responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with developing and executing marketing strategies for promoting performances, programs and services
- Coordinating outreach efforts to local businesses and organizations
- Writing to include: press releases, media alerts, mass email communication, blog and social media posts
- Coordinating editorial calendar requests
- Writing and proofreading blog submissions
- Fulfilling community donation requests
- Assisting with and attending special events as needed
- Some database and file management
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications
- Self-starter; able to work well without constant direction
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with AP Style preferred
- Communications, Marketing/Advertising, Business or other relevant majors preferred
Programming & Administration
The Programming Intern will help the department update the calendar and database as shows are booked. Once events are booked they may be asked to fulfill contracts for guest artists, assist with building rental contracts, reach out to vendors for payment information and schedule artists needs (hotel, ground transportation, and hospitality). They will also be responsible for assisting in weekly calendar meeting. Other duties include maintaining and running reports from EMS (Event Management Software) and assisting with the management of some Long Center produced events.

Web Development Intern
The Web Development Intern will work closely with the Digital Media Coordinator, who manages and administers the Long Center’s online and digital media presence as part of the Marketing department. Daily intern tasks will include updating and creating events on the Long Center website, editing pictures in Photoshop, blogging and working on a long-term programming project (front-end development). The intern may also complete general marketing duties as needed.
Skills/Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with CSS/HTML
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop
- Familiarity with CMS (especially WordPress)
- Familiarity with PHP, MySQL
- Familiarity with Javascript
- Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter and other social media
- Familiarity with SEO concepts and implementation
