Development Internship Description:
WeViva (www.weviva.org) is a non-profit organization in Austin, with a mission to provide accessible and affordable fitness and nutrition classes to people in low-income communities. We target adults (mainly Hispanic women) and bring all classes on-site and completely free to participants. WeViva is seeking a part time Development intern to help with the following tasks:
- Work with Development Associate to help plan and execute all elements of Envision Luncheon (vendor management, budget, printed materials, sponsor follow up, etc)
- Input data into and maintain our database system (such as donor addresses, phone numbers, email)
- Assist with monthly Viva Visit logistics and attend day of to assist with setting up, guiding attendants, receiving food deliveries at location
- Assist with managing all relationships with third parties hosting on WeViva’s behalf
- Assist with managing recognition of all donors through the database system including gifts and tracking
- Create and participate in outreach and networking activities as assigned
- Periodically assisting the Development Associate with social media
- Purchasing supplies as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years in relevant experience
- 2 years of college completion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with fundraising database is a plus
- Flexibility in work schedule- some weekend and evenings required
- An understanding of a small start-up non-profit environment
- Must have a collaborative and team oriented personality
- Must be able to represent WeViva in a professional manner at all times
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/week

Nutrition Internship Description:

We target adults (mainly Hispanic women) and bring all classes on-site and completely free for the participants. WeViva is seeking interns to help with the following tasks:
Nutrition Internship Tasks:
- Help the Nutritionists at the WeViva classes with prepping all the classes. This may include:
- Shopping for the food
- Helping out at the WeViva class location
- Creating Recipes and recipe books
- Being available to help out at supermarket Tours
- Being responsible for signing in participants
- Work directly under the Program Manager and the Nutritionist
- Attend nutrition classes at various partner organizations in Austin. Classes are in apartments, community centers, and schools. (Varied times-usually in the evenings)
- Maintain attendance sheets and waivers as well as create reports on participation rates.
All interns would also get exposure to: social marketing tools, grant searching and writing, basic office tasks, attending health fairs, farmers markets, events related to health/fitness/nutrition, etc.
The intern needs to have the following qualifications:
- Interest in helping low-income populations
- Interest in health, wellness, nutrition, fitness
- Must have own computer and regular internet access
- Ability to work from home
- Ability to drive to locations that are hosting the fitness and nutrition classes.
- An understanding of a small start-up non-profit environment
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Hours are negotiable; Interns are expected to work at the office: 4107 Medical Parkway Suite 200, Austin, TX 78756, at least 3 days per week and work at least 15 hours per week for the duration of the internship. This may include time spent at different class locations. Available internship credit hours through university program; the intern is required to setup credit hours and WeViva will complete any necessary paperwork.

- Help the Program Manager with scheduling and organization of fitness and nutrition classes
