Cook, Learn, Grow PAID Fall Internship Opportunities

Teaching kids what real food is, where it comes from and how to cook it.

Need hours for your degree plan? Love working with kids?Are you Creative Media savvy?
Cook, Learn, Grow is looking for the next Top Creative Media Intern! Do you have what it takes? We want you to showcase your creative skills for a chance at our internship program. Here’s your opportunity to create graphics including images, video production, editing and distribution for our social media platforms.

Responsibilities include:

• Create graphics including images, video production, editing and distribution for our social media platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Be Teachable
  • Have experience with video equipment, video and photo editing software.
  • Possess skills and experience creating and editing videos
  • Possess strong writing skills and cooking skills
  • Able to commit for a 4-month minimum
  • Available 2-5pm, M-F, 1-5 days depending on enrollment (Spring & Fall). Schedule may vary.
  • Available 8-5, M-Th June-mid August (Summer)
  • Pass background check and fingerprinting and
  • Have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Strong organizational, time management, responsible and trustworthy
  • The internship will begin in September with a light time commitment, tentatively less than 10 hours. The internship requires a commitment through mid to late December and will carry the possibility for a part time position in the Spring.

  1. Create an image promoting Fall Cooking Classes for kids to be used on social media.
  2. Choose your favorite recipe to cook that you would like to share with the world!
  3. Create a video of your cooking lesson; up to 2 minutes maximum.

o Include prep instructions, ingredients, directions and a shot of the final results.
o Include a fictitious logo in video and name of campaign: “Interns Who Cook!”
o Please be sure that all recorded content is kid and family friendly. Be mindful of background noises and images.

Submission deadline: August 31, 2016.

Submit your image and video to info@cooklearngrow.com. All submissions will be reviewed and considered for approval. Successful candidates will be notified by Sept 6, 2016. The internship begins September 2016 and goes through end of December. Successful candidates must be able to commit minimally 10 hours a week for the duration of the internship. Cook, Learn, Grow has PAID internships for Kid’s Cooking Instructors for our After School Programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach children’s hands-on afterschool cooking classes in Austin, Lakeway, Dripping Springs, Bee Cave, Leander, Round Rock
  • Prepare for Cook, Learn, Grow lessons; run class related errands including but not limited to grocery shopping, prepping/cleaning for class, etc.
  • Maintain safe and engaging classroom environment

Qualifications:

  • Be Teachable
  • Possess strong cooking skills
  • Experience working face-to-face with children
  • Passionate about teaching children about food
  • Excellent ability to engage and manage children
  • Able to commit for a 4-month minimum
  • Available 2-5pm, M-F, 1-5 days depending on enrollment (Spring & Fall)

Initially, most of your time will be spent will be spent completing non-classroom training, as well as weekly meetings with a mentor. Other time commitments will be on-site training. The internship time commitment will get busier as we move into September- December season. Campus Environmental Center Paid Positions

The Campus Environmental Center is the largest and oldest organization on campus for UT students interested in the environment. We are a sponsored student organization under Campus Planning & Project Management in the University Operations portfolio.

 The mission of the CEC is to empower the UT community to reduce its negative environmental impact and to foster a genuine culture of sustainability on campus through collaborative and constructive means.

 In pursuit of this mission CEC engages in projects, programs, campaigns, and group activities that strive to achieve the following:

  • Collaborate with UT entities and off-campus partners to foster change in policy and practice toward a more environmentally sustainable campus

  • Educate the student body and UT community about environmental sustainability issues

  • Develop knowledgeable and skilled leaders through direct participation in CEC events, classes, and programs

 Position Descriptions: 

Project Leaders: Are PAID student staff who are responsible for managing their project on a day-to-day basis, handling logistics, planning events, managing team members and volunteers, and creating ways to advance the project. These positions are competitive and limited in number (5 spots are available for 2016-2017 on the Green Greeks, Green Events and Socials Team).

Project Leaders work in conjunction with the CEC Leadership Team and the CEC Advisor to make sure the project is running well. The time commitment for Project Leaders is 10 hours/week. The pay is $10.00/hour.

Team Members: Are UNPAID student volunteers who are interested in becoming more involved with sustainability on campus. Anyone is welcome to get involved as a Team Member. Team Members will be matched with a specific CEC project and report to the Project Leaders.

 Team Members will be invited to participate in CEC-wide events, socials, and occasional leadership training events. The time commitment for Team Members will vary and will likely be 3-5 hours/week

Gabriel Garcia Marquez Online Archive Student Associate Position

Hello! I am hiring a Senior Student Associate to help digitize manuscript collection materials as part of the CLIR-funded project Sharing “Gabo” with the World. More information about the grant can be found via the following link: http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/press/releases/2016/clir.html.

The student will scan or digitally photograph collection materials according to established standards, using size-appropriate equipment; process the scans with appropriate software; describe image, process, and other details pertinent to the activity; and perform other duties as assigned.

Duration of project: September 1, 2016 – August 31, 2017
Work hours: 10 hrs/wk; hours arranged Monday – Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Salary: $12/hr
