About the Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead
Take a step back in time and into the rich history of Dripping Springs at the Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead Museum. Nestled on five beautifully shaded, oak-filled acres, the 1854 farmstead offers a fascinating and informative glimpse into our community’s historic past. Internship Available: Archival Book Processor
Gently and thoroughly clean old books (wear a mask for dust and debris) supplies are provided. Should be done in the storage unit (Right Stuff storage on 290, east of Dripping Springs) so books aren’t taken home. Complete a catalog sheet for each book, listing: condition, physical appearance, any notable handwritten script inside covers, date (may need to research/Google to find this), publisher, author, title, etc. Assign the next number in order and record it on catalog sheet and inside back cover in pencil. Wrap processed books in archival paper and tie with linen ribbon, write catalog number on outside of paper near the top. Load books into archival boxes, number boxes for location purposes. Enter all info from catalog sheet into PastPerfect database on museum laptop. Instruction will be provided on how to use database. This may be done at home, intermittently or all at once at the end.
This is an unpaid position with the flexibility to be done at the student’s convenience, so no particular number of hours are required each week. A total of 160 hours is expected.
Qualifications include: absolute care in handling paper goods (technique will be taught) neatness in wrapping of books responsible for care of laptop while in student’s home, car, transit, etc. responsible for THE ONLY key to the storage unit spelling and attention to detail with respect to data entry An interest in old books makes it a decent job.

Internship & COVID-19
Training can be in-person, outside and masked, on the Pound House property. Once trained, intern will have access to materials and be able to work alone in our storage unit and remotely doing data entry.
