Gabriel Garcia Marquez Online Archive Student Associate Position

Hello! I am hiring a Senior Student Associate to help digitize manuscript collection materials as part of the CLIR-funded project Sharing “Gabo” with the World. More information about the grant can be found via the following link: http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/press/releases/2016/clir.html.

The student will scan or digitally photograph collection materials according to established standards, using size-appropriate equipment; process the scans with appropriate software; describe image, process, and other details pertinent to the activity; and perform other duties as assigned.

Duration of project: September 1, 2016 – August 31, 2017
Work hours: 10 hrs/wk; hours arranged Monday – Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Salary: $12/hr

Media Awareness Project Fall Internship

SOCIAL JUSTICE ART/MEDIA INSTRUCTOR

After School Enrichment Instructor – Social Justice Art and Media

Description: The Media Awareness Project is an innovative nonprofit here in Austin, Texas that teaches high risk youth to produce fine art and digital art and media messaging (through video production, website development, print, photography, etc.) around issues of social relevance. Our projects range from producing video to pop up galleries, exhibits and installations.

Our primary goal is to get kids thinking visually and creatively and to get them talking (artistically) about the world they live in.

We’re hiring impassioned and creative leaders to deliver our YouthVOICE curriculum to students in an after school setting. Think you’re right for the job?

Our ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with high risk kids or have taught after school previously.
Be an excellent communicator.
Know how to command an audience.
Show up!
Follow directions AND show initiative.
Respond quickly to emails/phone calls and text messages.
Be inspired by the potential of social justice art and media.

Good majors for us:
RTF, Social Work, Communications, Digital Media, Marketing

Be passionate about issues of social justice and the challenges high-risk kids face.
Have some understanding of video production & visual story-telling.
Be technology and social media savvy.
Work with students to execute an intense curriculum over the course of the semester.
Work with site directors to meet goals.

Working Conditions:
$11-13 p/h
-Part time-Afternoons between 2-6 p.m.
12 to 15 hours a week
Required experience:
After school or teaching experience: 6 months

Social Media Internship

Thom’s Market is looking for a motivated and passionate Social Media Intern to help us leverage social media and drive consumer engagement. We are seeking smart, media-savvy individual who brings energy, new ideas and a fresh perspective to our team.

The ideal Marketing Intern candidate will have:

  • Write and edit content for all Thom’s Market’s social media platforms.
  • Have excellent consulting, writing, text and photo editing, presentation and communication skills.
  • Work with colleagues to help plan and implement social media marketing campaigns that drive and engage traffic.
  • Have graphic design | website design experience.
  • Help to increase social media conversion rates.
  • Manage social media marketing channels, content  and day-to-day activities.
  • Be confident in running  ad campaigns in 2-3 of the following advertising platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google + and/or other social media outlets.
  • Monitor social media accounts daily,  evenings and/or weekends responding to critical items as needed.
