Internships with The Rise School of Austin’s Fundraising, Marketing, and Administrative Team – Fall 2021

The Rise School of Austin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide the highest quality early childhood education to children of all abilities – gifted, traditional and developmentally delayed – in an inclusive setting, where individualized learning techniques enable every child to reach their maximum potential. At Rise, 50% of our students are traditionally developing, 50% have a developmental delay or disability, and 100% learn together and receive the tools and support they need to succeed. Our organization features a robust therapy program, high-quality educators, and a dedicated administrative and fundraising team that support our mission for inclusion.

The Rise School offers Development, Fundraising, Marketing, and Administrative internships in addition to internships within our Education and Therapy Program.

As a nonprofit organization, all internships are unpaid. We are happy to support students seeking credit hours.

Internship Opportunities:

Fundraising Events
Description: The Rise School hosts two major fundraising events each year including a large gala and golf tournament, in addition to smaller fundraising initiatives throughout the year. The Event Intern will provide assistance with event coordination, donor appreciation, donation solicitation, event software management, auction item management, and other events tasks as necessary.

Marketing
Description: The Rise School of Austin is looking for an energetic and self-motivated marketing intern with a keen eye for design to participate in our marketing efforts including content marketing, preparing promotional presentations, monitoring social platforms, creating mockups of marketing materials including email, mail, and social media campaigns, web management, and conducting market analysis.

Development & Fundraising
Description: The Rise School of Austin is seeking an intern to participate in our Development and Fundraising efforts including assisting with our annual fundraising campaigns, events, and appeals, donor stewardship, grant research, managing and cultivating relationships with donors, alumni, families and staff, participating in coordination of the Junior Board, maintaining records, and coordinating with volunteers.

Administrative
Description: The Rise School is looking for administrative interns to participate in the organization’s day-to-day operations including general office administration, IT, Marketing, etc. Specific areas include data entry and database management, upkeep of webpages, organization of systems, filing, communications, creating internal marketing materials, and other administrative tasks.

Qualifications for above listed internships include:

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, emphasis in communications, marketing, administration, or similar field encouraged. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong multitasking and organizational abilities, and computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, utilizing available resources. Must be a team player with a willingness to learn.

Internships with the Texas General Land Office, Community Development & Revitalization – Fall 2021

General Job Description:

Interns will assist in various departments of the Community Development & Revitalization (CDR) program area. CDR is funded by Community Development Block Grants – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) and Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) that are allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) following a Presidentially-declared major disaster. Programs typically administered by CDR including housing (single-family and multi-family), economic revitalization, infrastructure, and planning and other recovery and mitigation programs. CDR is projected to administer over $14 billion in CDBG-DR and CDBG-Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funding for the state of Texas. In the support of administering these grants, GLO-CDR is outreaching to undergraduate and graduate students to learn through training about CDBG-DR and CDBG-MIT funding and assist in various ways, including accounting, policy development, planning, and GIS, and environmental services.

Job Duties:

Interns will play a key role on the CDR team, initially being trained on the administration of federally-funded grants, and then working within a division in their area(s) of expertise. If time permits, interns will be given the opportunity to rotate to other divisions to get a broader perspective of the CDBG-DR and CDBG-MIT programs begin administered.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be enrolled at the University of Texas during the semesters requested. Successful candidates will be motivated to learn. The position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well both independently and in team settings. Knowledge in the field related to the desired position is a prerequisite to applying.

Research & Publications Internship with the Environmental Law Institute – Fall 2021

Environmental Law Institute – Summer 2019 Internship

Overview

For five decades, the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) has played a pivotal role in shaping the fields of environmental law, policy, and management, both domestically and internationally.

ELI is hiring interns to support the research and publications departments of the Institute. Interns work directly with staff attorneys, editors, scientists, and economists on a variety of projects. Substantive areas of focus in domestic and international policy and law include: climate change, land use, biodiversity, air quality, public health, hazardous waste and brownfields, wetlands and watersheds, armed conflict and the environment, environmental management systems, public participation, environmental justice, Indigenous issues, and environmental enforcement.

Responsibilities

Interns conduct in-depth secondary and primary research, attend and report on outside events, analyze, edit, and synthesize scholarly material, assist with preparation for environmental training courses, and provide limited administrative support. ELI integrates interns into the day-to-day operations of the Institute, and interns are encouraged to attend ELI-sponsored workshops, seminars, roundtable, and other events. In addition, interns will develop and complete an independent research project under the guidance of ELI staff.

Positions are available throughout the academic year (minimum 15 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters) and during the summer (full-time). This position is for the Fall of 2021 and will be remote during the entire duration of the internship.

Qualifications

Candidates for the fall internship must be available to work at least 15 hours/week for at least 10 consecutive weeks. Candidates should possess superior research, writing, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as a deep desire to gain knowledge of the environmental field. A strong academic background is required, but specific environmental experience is not. Candidates must have completed their first year of college. Compensation is not available. ELI will support candidates in their efforts to secure external funding for the position.
