Resource Development Intern (Kodosky Service Center, Austin)
Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) is a dynamic youth leadership organization with an $8.2M annual budget headquartered in Austin, Texas.  GSCTX currently has openings for two energetic and capable Resource Development Interns to assist and support the resource development department in its efforts to capture 50,000 users of Google’s Made with Code and in its efforts to create sustainable giving campaigns.  GSCTX is headquartered in North Austin and serves 46 Central Texas Counties.  The Resource Development Executive, based in the Great Austin area, will focus fundraising efforts on the following Texas counties: Travis, Hays, Williamson, Blanco, Burnet, Llano, Gillespie, Caldwell, and Bastrop Counties. Program Intern (Kodosky Service Center, Austin/Bryan Area Service Center, Bryan/Waco Area Service Center, Waco)
Support Program Specialist during the development, implementation and evaluation of council program. Work collaboratively with the Program Team to provide quality programs that ensure the council goals and objectives are met. See more.

Graphic Design Intern (Kodosky Service Center, Austin)
The Marketing Department seeks an unpaid, design intern to assist with the creation of graphic elements. Applicants should be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and InDesign and have a desire to work on a wide variety of projects. Internships are part-time and are available fall, spring and summer. Pending school approval, academic credit is available for compensation. See more.

Public Relations Intern (Kodosky Service Center, Austin)
The Marketing Department seeks 1-2 unpaid, PR interns to assist with all functions of the marketing department with an emphasis on media relations and content development. Applicants should have strong writing skills, strong speaking skills and be customer service-minded. Internships are part-time and are available fall, spring and summer. Pending school approval, academic credit is available for compensation. See more.

Social Media Intern (Kodosky Service Center, Austin)
The Marketing Department seeks an unpaid, PR interns to assist with all function of the marketing department with an emphasis on social media and content development for online materials. Applicants should have strong writing skills, be customer service-minded and have a basic understanding of web development tools. Internships are part-time and are available fall, spring and summer. Undergraduate Volunteer/Research Assistant Position Available!
Are you interested in studying an integrated behavioral health and nutrition intervention for adolescents with obesity?

Our research team is looking for motivated undergraduates to volunteer as part-time research assistants beginning Summer 2015 at the Texas Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity (TCPTCO) at Dell Children’s medical Center, with potential to continue through the 2015-2016 academic year.

Purpose of our research:
This project investigates the mental health and physical health outcomes of an ongoing family-based group intervention for adolescents with obesity.

• Network with advanced psychology trainees (graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows) and licensed psychologists

Qualifications: 

• Current psychology (or related field) undergraduate student in good standing
• Basic background in research methods for the social sciences
• Previous experience working with children
• Interest in research and pediatric psychology
• Ability to contribute at least 10 hours per week
• Spanish proficiency preferred but not required

Project Timeline: 

Starting summer 2015, with opportunity for the full 2015-2016 academic year.

Duties:

• Attend weekly lab meetings and trainings
• Assist with data organization, scoring, entry, and checking
• Assist with leadership of a group for siblings of participants
• Contribute to research presentations/publications

Internships with the Austin Project

The Austin Project (TAP) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization launched in 1991 by Walt and Elspeth Rostow out of the LBJ School for Public Affairs.  Then Austin Mayor, Bruce Todd, several faith-based organizations, community activists, neighborhood associations and business leaders joined the effort to  create an organization that would act as a catalyst to align community efforts and to scale initiatives that lift up systems and shared community efforts to address the chronic gap in access and equity among Austin’s poor and minority populations.

TAP’s focus is on the importance of Family Stabilization as a key to student success,Parental Engagement as vital to school success, and Neighborhood Participation in schools as a means of revitalizing  Community.  Please visit our Current Initiatives and Past Initiatives pages for more specific details about our projects.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Are you looking to gain “real-life” experience in the dynamic fields of marketing, public relations, social media, graphic design, and business management? The growing nonprofit sector is a great place to start. Interns at The Austin Project will work on specific projects to ensure exceptional communication between TAP and its constituency, including local media, donors, and partnering organizations. The intern will help represent TAP at special events and will learn effective marketing and business strategies from conception to execution.
