Internship available with JBL Strategies (www.jblstrategies.com), a business strategy practice dedicated to providing clients with objective analysis, informed opinion and effective solutions to help them achieve their goals.

Background:  JBL Strategies works with business, government and non-profit clients to expand awareness, manage reputations, enhance performance and achieve their goals through effective strategies. The practice is led by Jane Baxter Lynn, an experienced strategic planner, facilitator and communicator, with in-depth knowledge of the Travel & Tourism, Wine, Green Building/Sustainability and non-profit sectors. A strategic business advisor, she focuses on organizational management, clarity of positioning and messaging, and alliance building and partnerships within the context of a client’s strategic plan.

Internship Location:  Downtown Austin

General Job description:  To support JBL Strategies’ Principal Jane Baxter Lynn in some or all of the following areas depending on course needs and student’s personal goals:

  • Business Development
  • Communications and Marketing outreach
  • Website and Social Media activity
  • Project Research
  • Administration
  • Volunteer commitments – U.S. Green Building Council, Wine & Food Foundation of Texas, Canine Companions for Independence, Association for Women in Communications Career Services
  • Program and Event Planning

  • While the position is unpaid, every effort is made to ensure that each intern completes a project or projects that can be used to further their education and/or enhance their resume.

General Job requirements:

  • Ideally studying marketing, communications, business, public affairs, government affairs or other related courses, whether as a major or as a minor
  • Must be computer and internet savvy; website experience/knowledge a definite plus, with proficiency in word, excel, adobe, photoshop and In-Design an advantage
  • Prepared to do both innovative and everyday work
  • Ideally a good writer
  • Highly organized
  • Willing to commit to working hard and, once committed, being reliable.

Study Abroad Scholarships

The Study Abroad Office is very pleased to announce that our PLANNING SCHOLARSHIPS website and application form is now available.

Key Features:
·         Deadline: December 11, 2012
·         Award Period: Funding can be applied to programs between fall 2013 and summer 2015
·         Award Amounts: $2000 – $3000 per student

Planning scholarships have been developed to encourage students to apply for funding in advance of selecting a program. We have designed these scholarships in this way so that students have the guarantee of funding before having to select and/or commit to a program.
