Camtasia and You

Are you teaching in a “flipped classroom”?

Do you want to easily add a voice over to your PowerPoint slideshow?

Do you have VHS or DVD videos that you wish you could upload into Canvas for future use?

All that and A LOT more is possible in Camtasia.

If you’ve never heard of screencasting or podcasting and would like to know more, start here for a basic intro or here for a deeper dive.

Here’s just one example of what you can do with Camtasia.

So, how can Camtasia help you (and your students)?

There is virtually no limit to the kinds of video or audio recordings that you can create using Camtasia. So, if you’re not sure where to begin, please don’t hesitate to contact me so we can discuss the best way to bring your ideas to life.

But, basically, if it involves recording any sort of audio or video of you, your voice, your PowerPoint slides, you name it, Camtasia is a great tool to help you record AND edit whatever you want to record.

But, I don’t have Camtasia. Do I have to buy it?

Nope.

You certainly can. But here in the School of Nursing, we also have Camtasia installed on a laptop that you’re welcome to come and use or even check-out for a limited time. If you’d like to use our Camtasia laptop or borrow it for a few days, please contact me so we can make sure everything is set up for you.

Are there other tools I can use on my own?

Absolutely!

There are lots of different ways you can record short or long videos or create your own “podcasts”.

  • Screencast-o-matic is a great free option
  • Zoom is a GREAT conferencing tool that also lets you record
  • You can even record video straight into your PowerPoints

HOWEVER…

If you want to be able to do any editing or other modifications to your recording, these other tools don’t give you many (if any) options. Camtasia, on the other hand, makes recording AND editing easy and quick.
