Colorado River Alliance Internships

The Colorado River Alliance (CRA), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Austin, is the only nonprofit dedicated solely to the conservation and protection of the Texas Colorado River. The Colorado River Alliance has been increasing community awareness of the Colorado River’s environmental and economic importance since 1994. We provide, conduct and support environmental science and outdoor education programs for youth, river cleanups, and other river-centered projects in efforts to bring awareness to the Colorado River.

The Colorado River Alliance has internships available for the fall, spring and summer terms. Internships are unpaid but are available for academic credit. Interns are expected to commit at least 15 hours a week. For grant writing or graphic design internships, be prepared to submit a portfolio or samples along with your resume and application. Download the INTERNSHIP APPLICATION. For more information about interning with CRA, please contact geoff@coloradoriver.org

Environmental Education Interns
Educational Interns assist with the planning, development and management of student educational programs including field trips and classroom materials. Programs teach water conservation, geography and geology of the Colorado River in Texas, aspects of a healthy watershed and water quality assessment. Interns are instrumental in the development and implementation of new curriculum and programming.

Community & Special Events Interns

Help includes sponsorship solicitation and graphic design to creating decorations, event set up and more. The best part – most of these events occur in the evening or on the weekends – perfect for someone with a busy work schedule.

Qualifications: If you have a keen eye for detail, thrive on juggling multiple deadlines, love to plan, plan, plan and can take an idea and run with it, this might be the perfect internship for you! Please keep in mind that this internship will require you to be highly organized, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and have strong communication skills.

Marketing & Communications Interns
Marketing volunteers assist with all forms of communications and promotion including press releases, Facebook and Twitter, developing marketing collateral in cooperation with graphic designers, generating e-newsletter, maintaining website, and developing media lists and press kits.
