LIVESTRONG offers unpaid internships to current students and recent graduates interested in learning the inner workings of a nonprofit organization.
INTERNSHIP APPLICATION

Hiring for:

  • Public Health Intern– assist with the implementation of Foundation programs as we work to develop a model of care for people affected by cancer that is comprehensive and “patient-centered.” This includes researching and working with healthcare professionals and patients around the country to create a cancer care model that empowers patients and their families and places their needs, preferences, and values first. Responsibilities include: researching organizations and cancer hospitals delivering innovative cancer care practices, communicating with members of the cancer community (academics, researchers, healthcare providers, patients, policy makers, etc.), writing for blogs and professional publications, and assisting with planning and implementation of major symposiums and conferences. This internship is ideal for someone with a strong interest in public health, outstanding organization, research, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Marketing Production Intern–  assist with researching and analyzing data across the Foundation’s ongoing online marketing efforts. This includes generating weekly and monthly reports in Microsoft Office that provide details about our email metrics, website traffic, constituent database, Google Analytics, iTunes connect, and social media analytics. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to think creatively as they address new challenges. Any computer programming skills (i.e. HTML, Python, JavaScript, etc.) are a plus.
  • Human Resources Intern– Intern will be assigned projects that allow them to collaborate cross functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment. Project deliverables will be chosen from across the major human resources disciplines of talent acquisition, talent management, total rewards and organizational development.
  • Mission Intern–  support the development, implementation, and execution of LIVESTRONG’s strategic mission and objectives. This role may include support in the organization’s delivery of patient-centered services, building and engaging communities of survivors, and leading system change through a variety of programs and initiatives including LIVESTRONG Navigation Services, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes, the LIVESTRONG Leader Program and Advocacy Efforts. Our interns have the opportunity to work with some of the largest nonprofits in the United States such as YMCA of the USA. Additionally, interns may support planning and implementation of events, workshops, and trainings. Ideal candidates should have great communication skills, be highly organized and have the ability to work on multiple projects at once. This is a great position for someone interested in nonprofit management, program creation, community outreach, and grant management.
  • Development Intern–  assist with projects that support the entire development team as we work to update and maintain accurate constituent records. Interns assist with managing our grants portfolio, creating and running reports for prospect/donor events, data analysis, and conducting basic research on individual, corporate or foundation prospects.

Requirements

Interns will be paired with a team member for one-on-one mentorship to gain hands-on experience in their area of interest.

  • Be available to work 12–20 hours per week during regular business hours at LIVESTRONG HQ in Austin, Texas.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of computer competency.
  • Be self-motivated, organized, willing to help with any project no matter how large or small and be able to balance multiple priorities at once.
  • Have a strong desire to make a difference, a passion for the LIVESTRONG mission, a positive attitude and an affinity for the color yellow.
  • Be able to provide their own housing and transportation; mastery of parallel parking is a plus.

District Intern (Austin) Summer 2017

Office of Congressman Lloyd Doggett

All interns function as assistants to Congressman Doggett and the District Office staff and are an integral part of the public service provided by our office (constituent services and community outreach; limited legislative work). Interns in the District Office will be responsible for responding to constituent requests; recording of constituent opinions on legislative issues; assisting with constituent casework; filing; clipping newspapers; answering incoming telephone calls; and handling special projects as needed. They will also accompany the Congressman and/or staff to events throughout the district.
-Good communication, phone, writing, and computer skills are essential.
-The atmosphere of a congressional office can be very quick-paced and highly demanding and a professional, courteous manner is expected at all times.
– Must be available a minimum of 15 hours per week; preferably weekday mornings.

Austin School of Film Office Intern

Job Description:
Austin School of Film is looking to fill an office intern position that will work closely with our current Community Coordinators. While this is an unpaid internship, a participant in this position will gain a mastery of basic office skills, workplace etiquette, and event management while also enjoying the ability to take classes, participate in our membership program, and enjoy our artist services.
Our ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

-Is interested in work-trade for classes at ASoF and membership to the Austin Cinemaker Space.
-Has availability a few nights a week, and weekends. Will average around 15 hours/week depending on the current event schedule.
-Interested in the arts and supporting the local artist community.
-Capable of being flexible day-to-day in a position that often differs from a standard routine.
-Ready to learn some of the inner workings of a medium-sized non-profit.
-Has a good understanding of social media platforms.
-Must be able to use a word processor and spreadsheet program (Word, Excel, Google Docs)

Added bonus if the candidate has any of the following:
-Knowledge of some video editing and/or photoshop software.
-Enjoy attending arts events.
-Has an interest in graphics design.
-Would enjoy contributing to our blog (AustinCinemakerSpace.com) occasionally.
-Background in Salesforce.
