Studio & Gallery Intern

This position will provide hands-on experience in studio work, client interaction, and the entrepreneurial growth of a small business. Articulture Designs is a design firm that creates art and design from living plants and natural elements. Our main focuses are: living walls, installation art, interior botancial design, sustainable landscape design, and event design. The internship position will gain a holistic understanding of what it takes to grow and market a small business. Job duties may include:
– Assisting in studio and gallery
– Assisting in installations
– Preparing/participating in art shows and other seasonal events
– Brainstorming marketing opportunities and assisting creating marketing materials
– Learning about and assisting with new business proposals
– Must be highly reliable
– Strong sense of basic design principles of scale, color, weight, proportion, etc.
– Not afraid to put your hands in some dirt (literally) if need be.
– Good communicator.

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Manager with a wide range of projects related to HR recruiting, onboarding/orientation, training & development, administrative task, and the internship program. The internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take the skills acquired in school related topics and apply them in a professional setting. The Intern will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play in a non-profit setting and be better prepared to work in the arena of human resources. The Intern will also have the opportunity to network with programs, finance, and development staff.

The Human Resources Intern will learn the practical application of:

Steps in the recruiting and hiring process, including: posting job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting telephone and in-person interviews, and making job offers.
The importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
The interrelationship of HR and Finance in the areas of payroll issues related to onboarding and termination, the use of the HR and Payroll management database, and report generation.
Employee benefit administration issues related to open enrollment, benefit enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefit issues, and the customer service aspect of benefit oversight.
Implementation of a successful onboarding and new hire orientation.
Qualifications:

Current or recent enrollment in a undergraduate or graduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources, or non-profit management/administrative fields;
Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously;
Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications;
Student member of SHRM is a plus.
Schedule

16 weeks internship+, unpaid.
Minimum of 12 hours/ week.
Flexible to accommodate a student’s changing schedule.
