Internship Opportunities
The Central and South Texas region is currently seeking an intern to support our Preparedness Manager and Regional Disaster Officer to expand existing work on youth emergency preparedness, the Home Fire Safety Campaign, and other projects. This internship offers the opportunity to gain real-world, professional experience while supporting a national non-profit that is saving lives.
What you will do:
- Have the autonomy to choose a project that fits your area of interest/study
- Become a presenter for Prepare with Pedro, Pillowcase Project, and Be Red Cross Ready
- Research potential schools, youth groups, & local organizations for future presentations
- Conduct outreach to schools and community groups to schedule presentations
- Track reporting of presentations and present to the Disaster Cycle Services team on goals
What you will learn:
- Manage deadlines and work collaboratively
- Training via the Red Cross EDGE volunteer training platform
- How to build relationships with groups interested in emergency preparedness
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Passion for youth education and emergency preparedness training
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience via enrollment in related BDP course work
- Prior volunteering experience
- Availability for a minimum of 10 hours weekly for a total of 180 hours
