UT Microfarm is Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2017!!

Become a Microfarmer — join the Microfarm Team. Accepting Team Member applications through April 28!

http://bit.ly/microfarm-fall17

What’s Microfarm?

The UT Microfarm is the first and oldest student-run organic farming operation at UT Austin. Our mission is to serve as a vibrant resource for the UT community by facilitating experiences of sustainable food systems, interdisciplinary collaboration, economic and social justice, and environmental cooperation. We seek to provide an open space for establishing a community that grows together, explores environmental inquiries, and connects to the natural world through food.

We currently operate at 2204 Leona Street. Hopefully you’ve had the chance to volunteer at a weekly workday or attend a class at the farm. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend that you come out to a volunteer workday. This semester, workdays are Sundays 10am – noon. There’s no need to RSVP. See more information about volunteering here: http://wp.me/P31jpP-FN

What’s involved with the position?

As a Project Team member, you’ll be an integral part of the Microfarm magic. Team members gain a deep understanding of the Microfarm, play a role in leading volunteer workdays and farm events, have the opportunity to pursue independent projects and research, and much more.

Aside from general interest and experience in gardening and farming, we’re looking for a few applicants who have interest and experience in photography, blogging, social media management; designing and leading children’s programs; and designing and building small-scale engineering projects. The Microfarm flourishes because of the diverse talents our team members bring to the community!

Although this is not a paid position, being a Team Member has plenty of perks — free fresh produce, a place to dump compost, preferential selection for community garden plots, team socials to farmers markets and the like, a community that supports you, and the unmistakable feeling that you’re doing something really cool.

Do I need to know how to garden?

No experience necessary. Each team member contributes something valuable to our community, and we learn how to farm organically as a team.

Apply now! Applications open through April 28. http://bit.ly/microfarm-fall17
