Children’s Research Center Internships Available

The Children’s Research Center is looking for 3 Community Outreach Interns!

The Children’s Research Center (CRC) is a collection of 11 individual research labs working to understand how children develop and learn. When families visit our center, children read books, solve puzzles, watch puppet shows, play video games, and engage in memory games with our researchers.

We rely on the help of Austin families and children to participate in our ongoing research studies. Our research studies are for infants to 17-year-olds, focusing on how children develop reading skills, how they think through and solve problems, how imagination and creativity are developed through play, how the brain changes, and more.

Work Days and Times: Monday-Friday 9 AM-5 PM and frequent Saturday / Sunday events between 9 AM-5 PM

Hourly Wage: The internship is unpaid.

Approximate Hours per Week: 6

The responsibilities of the intern are listed below –

Outreach: The intern will be responsible for emailing and calling community organizations to spark initial partnership opportunities. The intern will drop off CRC flyers throughout the community. The intern may also attend parent meetings on behalf of the Children’s Research Center to speak with parents about our research.
Recruitment: The intern will be responsible for setting up and cleaning up during our campus-wide and community-wide events. The intern will also run and manage our table at the event, which includes signing up parents / caregivers to participate in our research studies and engaging in a developmentally-appropriate activity with children under 18 years old at our recruitment events. For outreach and recruitment portions of this position, the intern will be responsible to go out in the community and manage their own transportation needs. All events and community organizations will be within bus-distance, which means interns can use Capital Metro buses.
Database: The intern will be responsible for entering children’s information into our collaborative database after recruitment events with accuracy and confidentiality.
Organization and security: The intern will adhere to security policies designated by The University of Texas at Austin and the Children’s Research Center to ensure that the confidentiality of all families and community partners are protected. The intern will maintain and organize files related to data collection, such as consent forms, which the participant and the family are asked to sign before participating.
Special projects: The intern may be assigned special projects on a continuing basis.

Learning Outcomes: Effective communication, outreach and recruitment skills, organization, positive attitude and willingness to learn, attention to detail | Interns will complete CITI modules, database training, and recruitment training.

Qualifications: In addition to having good attention to detail, the prospective intern must display excellent teamwork and communication skills. Interns must commit to two semesters for this position. The intern will be responsible for communicating in a friendly, respectful manner to families, to community organizations, and to other team members.

General Description: The Credit Risk Analyst will contribute and assist in credit risk assessment and loan portfolio monitoring of private infrastructure projects such as renewable energy, transportation, and other clean energy projects in the Mexico-U.S. Border Region and public infrastructure projects of diverse types including water/wastewater, air quality, basic infrastructure and PPP’s. Day to day activities may include internal loan credit risk rating, financial/economic analysis, loan administration and covenant compliance and asset management tasks as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Credit Risk Rating:

Aid in the analysis for internal loan credit risk ratings, along with determination of allowances for loan losses.
Read, analyze and interpret financial documents.
Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors.
Elaborate detailed tracking reports based on information sourced from periodic project performance and financial reports, supported with historical operational data sets.
Assist in reviewing loan documentation by assessing financial models, conducting scenario/sensitivity analyses.
Leverage data from other NADB’s processes along with external information to perform relevant analyses and create briefings (presentations, data bases, writing of memoranda, and other reports as required) related to origination, execution and operation of projects.
Collaborate during strategy implementation to minimize a loan’s overall risk and ensure stability within NADB’s loan portfolio.
Perform supplementary quantitative analysis regarding loan risk ratings and other related work as required by the Department’s Director and/or supervisor.

Covenant Compliance and Portfolio Monitoring:

Serve as a liaison between Risk Management and the Project and Loan Administration (PLA) Department to facilitate information sharing for loan credit rating assessments and covenant compliance deliverables (e.g. financial reporting, insurance and guarantee verification, financial and operational performance reports, and additional monitoring activities as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in either the U.S. or in Mexico in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Business, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferably with a quantitative financial minor or background.
In lieu of a solid Finance, Credit or Compliance professional background with evident strong credit skills preferred.
Advanced proficiency with working with Excel spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint programs. Ability to learn new technology rapidly and employed it for increased productivity. Prior exposure to pro-forma financial modeling and data base building preferred.
Mathematical/analytical skills (ability to design, perform and evaluate economic/financial research).
Knowledge of legal and banking regulations, general accounting principles, financial market concepts, and familiarity with loan compliance requirements.
Experience in filing systems to ensure accurate maintenance of documentations and ease of retrieval.
Strong analytical thinking and ability to exercise good judgment to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
Superb attention to detail and advanced command of time management skills.
Fully Bilingual in Spanish and English (verbal and written communication) to include the ability to prepare official correspondence and contractual documents in either language.
Availability to travel as required.
