Internships with Austin Music Foundation

Our mission is to strengthen and connect the local music community by providing free business education and networking opportunities to local musicians and music industry professionals. Since 2002, we have helped as many as 15,000 professionals in the music industry through our expert programs, panels, mentoring and consultations. The Austin Music Foundation is committed to ensuring that Austin’s creative class and music industry businesses thrive and remain in the Live Music Capital of the World.

Austin Music Foundation in Austin, Texas is currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated interns with a love of music and a serious interest in working in the music business.  The internships are not paid positions and you should be available to work 15 or more hours per week to fully benefit from the experience.  The ideal candidates can demonstrate that they are team players, energetic, self-motivated, creative, responsible, and have a passion for music.

Administrative Interns:  AMF is looking for some passionate and customer service oriented individuals to help with our busy office.  You would be involved with general administrative duties including signing up new clients, scheduling meetings, answering phones, assisting with events and creating checklists with our staff for our clients.  An ideal candidate should be friendly and professional with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Public Relations/Social Media Intern:  We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist Austin Music Foundation and our clients with promotional material and social media outreach.  At any given time you could be involved in marketing and promotions, researching, social media outreach, event organization, and office administration.

Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, well versed in social media, multi-tasking ability and time management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently and be a self-starter, a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Communications Intern:  This internship position offers the opportunity for an in-depth look in the marketing promotion and logistics of AMF’s campaigns and events which often includes copyediting, researching new press avenues and drafting blog posts.  Strong written skills are a must.  A background of interest in policy or law particularly as relates to the creative sector, is preferred.

Website Design/Graphics:  We are currently offering an internship to provide students with exposure to the fundamental functions of website development and maintenance.  This intern can expect a lot of interaction with management on website directions, experience on the needs of running a live production site while developing incremental improvements to it.  Responsibilities include updating website content (video, text and graphics), research and recommend plugins to add features and update and test features and layouts.

Event Planning:  This is an exciting opportunity to intern for our event planning with a dynamic, energetic and diverse group.  Responsibilities include coordinating invite lists, creating invitations, coordinating with sponsors/advertisers/city leaders/artists and general administrative tasks as required.  Candidate must be professional, customer service oriented, exhibit discretion and confidentiality with critical information and data, have excellent communication skills and be proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

Street Team Intern:  AMF is seeking a highly motivated individual interested in pursuing a career in marketing and promotions to design a street team.  This individual will coordinate and organize teams to attend local shows and events to promote the services and events for AMF and our clients.  Responsibilities include scheduling the teams, communicating with venue owners, bands and festivals and event setup and breakdown.  Applicants must have a flexible schedule and be available for evening events.

Internships with Rooster Teeth

Rooster Teeth is a film, animation and studio production company in Austin, Tx.

It produces over 60 live action videos a year and just finished its first feature. The studio department produces daily programming and is expanding that content very rapidly.

The animation department is heavily known for Red vs. Blue but has gained a lot of international notoriety for an original anime series called RWBY.

Most content has 1st run syndication online and many of it is packaged for digital download on iTunes and/or retail distribution through Wal-Mart and Best Buy.

We are looking to bring in an intern that can help with editorial on various projects. We also have the need for production assistance on studio and field productions as well as post production with both live action and video game gameplay. This could include live sound recording, studio camera work, production assistance as well as general help in maintaining equipment in the studio. They are available to students who are currently enrolled in film/journalism programs. Applicants are required to get school credit. We do 2-3 live studio shows a week. In the last month, these broadcasts have accumulated over 4 million views across youtube and our website. We also shoot quite a lot of field work and have some exciting projects on the schedule for the fall. We currently utilize the latest in professional video equipment including a RED ONE, RED Epic, Phantom Flex, Sound Devices 788T and a PreSonus Studiolive 24.4.2 studio audio mixer.
Academic credit from either the school of journalism or radio-televsion-film

The Role

W2O Group seeks social media savvy college student interested in health and medicine.  This digital anthropologist will gather data sourced from the web to provide a deeper understanding of human behavior and online networks.   The intern will work closely with seasoned professionals to assist with groundbreaking research focused on building and understanding of the online health ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Stripping data from online sources for further analysis
  • Web research to flesh out profiles based on social media bios
  • Organizing data in a meaningful and functional manner
  • Validating data for accuracy where necessary
  • Working within the WCG team to further develop capabilities and efficiencies
  • Reporting findings in both text/copy and presentation form
  • Uploading digital information into major databases

Qualifications

  • Ability to work at least 20 hours a week during regular business hours, prefer 40 hours
  • Skilled and efficient internet researcher
  • Experienced with Twitter and Tweeting
  • Highly organized and mindful of deadlines, solution-oriented
  • Functional with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ideally candidate will have deeper excel experience, e.g., pivot tables, charts, complex formula
  • Intellectually curious, forward thinker, responsive, creative
  • Basic familiarity with medical profession and an interest in digital health would be preferable
