Financial Fraud Research Assistant

Those interested in becoming involved in research on financial fraud are encouraged to apply for the following research assistant position.

Leading Finance Researcher Seeking Highly Qualified Undergraduate Research Assistant:

Looking for exceptional students to assist in academic research mostly related to uncovering Financial Fraud. We prefer Juniors (or Sophomores) that are honors students and with a high GPA. Must be extremely bright, self-motivated, diligent, and with a quantitative background, but need not be a finance major. It is preferable to have at least some programming experience. An excellent opportunity to learn about research for those intellectually curious students possibly interested in later pursuing a PHD. Professor Griffin is nationally recognized and has won the research award for top McCombs researcher (See http://www.jgriffin.info/papers.htm for background.) His past Research assistants are a select group that went to prestigious PHD programs and very top finance jobs. Must have at least 8-10 hours per week. Texas Film Commission Internships

Production Internship Program

The internship program offers college students the opportunity to develop a working knowledge of and gain experience in the film, television, animation and video game industries. We are seeking students with excellent communication skills who want to learn how these industries work, and contribute to the film commission’s efforts to promote and expand these industries in Texas.


INTERN DUTIES

  • Answering phones and responding to information requests from industry professionals and the general public.
  • Assisting in digital stitching, color correcting and inputting digital location images in Adobe Photoshop CS5.
  • Performing specific research projects, ranging from filming locations to video game companies, via the Internet and other internal resources.
  • Reading scripts, preparing synopses and location breakdowns.
  • Performing routine clerical tasks such as data entry, photocopying and faxing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current student or recent graduate (within one year of semester start date) in a undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  • Ability to work 12-20 hours per week (in at least four-hour time blocks) at our office in downtown Austin, Texas. Applicants not located in the Austin area must acknowledge in their cover letter that they are prepared to reside in the Austin area for the entire duration of the internship. We are unable to provide assistance in obtaining housing or transportation.
  • The internship is unpaid.
  • Demonstrates professional interest in film, television and video game industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interns are not required to receive course credit, but may be eligible.

Incentives Internship Program

The Incentive Division Internship Program offers current college and graduate students with a background in accounting and an interest in film and media production the opportunity to develop a working knowledge of and gain experience in the world of production incentives. The Incentive Program is seeking students with excellent communication skills and an advanced understanding of accounting who want to learn how these industries work and contribute to the film commission’s efforts to promote and expand incentives in Texas.


INTERN DUTIES

  • Answering phones and responding to information requests from industry professionals and the general public.
  • Assisting in data analysis and research.
  • Answering general incentives phone calls.
  • Performing routine clerical tasks such as data entry, photocopying and faxing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate (junior or seniors are preferred) or graduate degree program preferably in accounting. Graduates who have graduated within the past year.
  • Ability to work 10-20 hours per week (in at least four hour time blocks) at our office in downtown Austin, Texas.
    Applicants not located in the Austin area must acknowledge in their cover letter that they are prepared to reside in the Austin area for the duration of the internship. We are unable to provide assistance in obtaining housing or transportation.
  • The internship is a volunteer position and is not paid.
  • Demonstrates professional interest in film, television and video game industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interns are not required to receive course credit, but may be eligible.

Tech Ranch Experiential Learning Program

Tech Ranch, a startup incubator in Austin, TX offers first ­time and seasoned entrepreneurs the resources and tools necessary to launch and grow their companies. With a focus on developing the entrepreneur instead of the idea, Tech Ranch helps foster the growth of the individual who can then go on to do many great things, despite what happens with their venture. Videography Job Description:

We are looking for a hard­ working and talented student with experience in videography and a desire to get involved with exciting projects. This intern will have the opportunity to develop skills in content creation and videography as well as build their resume.

Goals of Experiential Learning Program: Tech Ranch has developed this program to help students get real­world access to the entrepreneurship industry. Many times, especially as an undergraduate college student, there is a focus on case studies and text versus hands­on, experiential learning. The program allows students to not only work within a startup incubator and help with the growth and development of Tech Ranch, but also work alongside and with a wide range of entrepreneurs from multiple countries and industry backgrounds.

Through project work, events and training, Tech Ranch hopes to give students a glimpse into the life and challenges of an entrepreneur to better prepare them to make career choices. Project work will range across multiple functions and it is to be understood that Tech Ranch is also a startup and everyone must “wear many hats” each and every day.

Key Tasks:

●  Assisting with content creation, including sourcing content and creation for social media on a regular basis

●  Operation of videography equipment for events, training, and marketing materials.

●  Uploading and editing of video and other content

●  Flexibility related to projects, events, and development activities that pop up

Requirements:

●  Flexible and optimistic attitude

●  Willingness to learn and grow personally and professionally

●  At least one­year of undergraduate classes completed

●  Ability to use Microsoft Office products

●  Experience in videography and comfort with videography equipment

●  Experience editing video

Good to Have But Not Required:

●  Experience with podcasting

●  Experience with blogging
