MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Powershift Group is looking for an intern to assist with marketing and administrative functions. The intern will be trained and prepared to reinforce the rest of the staff with strategy execution and will assist with overall team efficiency. By the end of the program, the intern will have gained experience in various aspects of marketing and business practices. This position requires at least 10 hours per week.We also offer an appealing office environment, occasional lunches, and a never-ending supply of snacks. We fully commit to intern success and will help to grow intern confidence in their career. The Powershift office is a fun environment where people learn quickly, work hard and accomplish big things. We also can help guide the intern prepare a journal or portfolio of their work with us, as well as offer a real possibility to join the team full-time.

Responsibilities: 

  • Marketing research
  • Help manage content
  • Work with graphic designers and blog manager
  • Evaluate and execute social media plan
  • Test products
  • Help plan trade shows and other events
  • Create email templates
  • Organize contact information
  • Order marketing and office supplies
  • Help to keep track of marketing analytics
  • Update and compile press clippings
  • Help plan and execute marketing efforts for new Powershift companies
  • Edit and fact check various forms of content
  • Occasional office management errands
  • Manage the editorial calendar lists and media information
  • Make a good case for something you want to do and you’ll probably get to do it

Requirements 
We’re looking for junior or senior-level students, working toward a marketing or business administration degree. Reliable car access will be necessary to carry out occasional office management errands. Very importantly, a strong candidate will also display passion and enthusiasm- two characteristics that are strongly considered when making an addition to the Powershift team. Must have laptop access.

Writer Internship

The writer will assist with the written marketing collateral such as blog posts, trend reports, guidebooks, and more. The selected candidate will work under the direction of a marketing lead. Work location is in downtown Austin.The position will total about 10-12 hours a week, on a regular weekly schedule, starting immediately. Specific responsibilities include the following tasks as they pertain to nanotechnology business applications:

    • Conducting research within various industries to write or re-write blog posts and other content
    • Fact-checking
    • Reviewing and outlining technical marketing materials about nanotechnology

Requirements and Qualifications

    • Great writing skills that show off the interesting side of topics
    • Independence and creativity to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment.
    • The associate will need to provide his or her own laptop for use during the work assignment.

Technology and Business Writer
(Project-based)

The Technology and Business Writer will create written technology and business topic materials for a wide range of marketing, research, and development purposes. The position is project-based, with the anticipation that project work opportunities will continue indefinitely for excellent writers.Specific responsibilities include

  • Writing blog posts (800-1,400 words long).
  • Delivering and discussing content for a variety of audiences.
  • Conducting research, and interviewing subject matter experts for content.
  • The writer may work remotely or from our downtown Austin office. 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Previous writing experience covering topics pertaining to emerging technologies and business trends such as:  augmented reality, entrepreneurship, drones, business leadership, startups, wearables, mobile commerce, and “smart” technology.
  • Excellent writing skills with demonstrated ability to engage an audience, create clarity on complex topics, and dive deeply into detailed concepts
  • Demonstrated excellent research skills and experience
  • Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for delivering quality work

 1. Documentary Film Distribution and Marketing Internship

 Description:

 Throughout the semester, Fiege Films will be preparing festival submissions and beginning outreach and other activities related to theatrical and digital releases of our feature documentary Above All Else. To learn more about the film and see a trailer, check out our website at aboveallelsefilm.com. Interns will work closely with the producers to assist in the development and realization of the film’s distribution, including working with partner organizations, scheduling screenings, and producing marketing material. Duties may include conducting research on festivals and venues, drafting press releases and other marketing material, and planning and placing announcements, videos, and images on social media platforms.

 We also hold social events outside of work, such as happy hours and screenings, in which interns have a chance to spend more time with other interns and with professionals in the Austin film world.

 Requirements:  Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with Office software, web and social media platforms, and marketing concepts. An interest in environmental and social justice issues. Experience with Photoshop and Final Cut Pro is a plus.

  2. Documentary Production Internship

 Description: Fiege Films seeks interns to assist with development and production of documentary film projects. We have several Texas-based social justice documentary projects in development as well as a feature documentary,Above All Else, which recently premiered at SXSW and is starting its distribution life cycle. Interns may assist with research and writing tasks relevant to development and distribution, assist with grant research and preparation, as well as opportunities to work as second camera operators, sound recordists, editors, and PAs on both documentary and commercial shoots through summer. 3. Documentary Film Social Media and Web Internship

 Description:  Fiege Films seeks interns to assist with social media and marketing outreach for the company and our documentary film projects. Our current project explores the story of a direct action campaign waged in East Texas to stop construction of the Keystone XL pipeline—a journey that starts with one man’s determination to keep his family safe and leads to questions about climate change and civic participation. To learn more about the film and see a trailer, check out our website at aboveallelsefilm.com. The company has other projects in various stages of production.

 Throughout the spring, Fiege Films will seek to increase its reach on social media and Web platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and its own website. Interns will work closely with the production team to write and edit posts, create media to share online, interact with environmentalist leaders online, and design visual content for the Web. Interns will also work as a team, providing a chance to get to know your peers.

In the past, Fiege Films interns have had opportunities to work as second camera operators, sound recordists, editors, and PAs on commercial shoots. We also hold social events outside of work, such as happy hours and screenings, in which interns have a chance to spend more time with other interns and with professionals in the Austin film world.

Requirements:  Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, Photoshop and/or Illustrator or InDesign. Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience in graphic design, photo editing and film production. Experience in Web design and coding a plus.

Location: Austin, TX

Dates: January 20, 2015 – May 8, 2015 (UT Spring Session, although dates are flexible)
