Internships available with Project Transitions

Project Transitions is a non-profit agency that has been serving Central Texas for the last 25 years. We provide housing, hospice and recuperative care services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The hospice/recuperative care program is licensed by the state of Texas and provides 24-hour medical care to those at the end of life or who are recovering and ready to get back to their lives. The housing program provides transitional housing services through 1 and 2 bedroom apartments coupled with on-site case management and support services.

Position description – There are a few different position options at Project Transitions:

1) administrative assistant at the main office – duties include helping with daily admin duties for the Executive Director and Director of Client Services, social media management, fund raising event planning and implementation, etc

2) Doug’s House – work under the Program Coordinator/Social Worker to provide support and direct care to individuals living with HIV/AIDS who are medically compromised, learn about end of life planning and support and medical service coordination

3) Housing – work under the Program Coordinator/Social Worker to provide support to staff and residents living at the housing programs, to include case management, groups, breakfast, etc

4) Hybrid of all of the above to learn about a non-profit from a holistic perspective. This position would spend time at all 3 programs weekly or as needed/assigned.

Qualifications – person must be comfortable working along side people living with HIV/AIDS, take initiative, independent, flexible.

Paid Internship Opportunities with the UT Orange Bike Project

The Orange Bike Project is UT’s community bicycle workshop and rental station. We provide hands on bicycle maintenance as well as semester and short term rentals for all students and staff of UT. We are located in 27th Street Garage (TSG) behind the SSB. We are currently looking for two student leaders to join our team as part-time paid interns. We are looking for an outreach coordinator and a Rental coordinator.  To apply, please send an application to orangebike@www.utexas.edu

Outreach* Coordinator: Is responsible for all communications

  • Maintain bimonthly newsletter and recruit and keep track of subscribers
  • Create all facebook events and update OBP’s Facebook with relevant information and events
  • Develop advertising campaigns
  • Maintain relationships with non university entities such as Bike Austin and search for opportunities to raise awareness for OBP as well as safe cycling in Austin.

Rental* Coordinator: Serves as the primary contact for rental requests and reservations and is responsible for maintaining the Daily Rental Fleet. Also responsible for advertising OBP rentals to student and staff

  • Maintains Rental Log
  • Handles Reservation Emails
  • Handles Cataloging of Rental forms
  • Trains new coordinators on the rental procedure
  • Handles keys and locks
  • Communicates with other university departments to advertise rental program

*All coordinators will be present at shop hours so ALL will be trained to rent out bikes, handle cash transactions, and be trained in bike mechanic basics.

*Bullet points under each position are a required minimum. Every employee of OBP is encouraged to develop and carry out their own ideas to increase rentals, bicycle education, and OBPs presence on the UT campus.

Marathon Kids Summer Internships

Marathon Kids Development Intern
Direct Reports to: Chief Development Officer (and entire development team)
Start Date: Summer 2015, 20hrs/week (flexible for applicants schedule/availability)

OVERVIEW: Marathon Kids works with schools, families, and communities to develop healthy eating and fitness habits in children and adults alike, offering an evidence-based program to elementary school aged children in cities across the country. With over 240,000 participants nationwide this year, Marathon Kids is succeeding at its mission: to improve the health of children by providing them the motivation, tools and support to live happier and healthier lifestyles. Marathon Kids seeks an outgoing, fun, and eager intern, who is passionate about changing the lives of children, to join our dynamic development department.

DUTIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): • Provide general administrative and organizational support • Research new funding opportunities and aid in the development of funding proposals for individuals, corporations, and foundations • Event planning, management, and support • Salesforce maintenance and data entry • Donor acknowledgment and cultivation • Previous graphic design work and / or Adobe Illustrator experience preferred

Marathon Kids Programs Intern
Direct Reports to: Chief Programs Officer (and entire program team)
Start Date: Summer 2015, 20 hours/week (flexible for applicant’s schedule/availability)

OVERVIEW: Marathon Kids seeks an energetic, part-time, unpaid intern to assist the Programs Team in the implementation of initiatives designed to scale and improve our evidence-based, physical activity and healthy lifestyle program for children, the 26.2 Mile Challenge. With over 240,000 participants nationwide this year, Marathon Kids is succeeding at its mission: to improve the health of children by providing them the motivation, tools and support to live happier and healthier lifestyles.

DUTIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): • Parent and teacher outreach throughout the summer • Preparing and assisting with presentations at local school-based meetings • Maintaining the Program Department’s social media presence • Assisting with the creation of a programmatic implementation guide • Assisting in the maintenance of a project management system • Assisting with the creation of content for MK web-based platform • Researching state and federal mandates regarding physical education • Researching ways to align the 26.2 Mile Challenge with current MK partner programming • Assisting with upkeep of program-wide database • Assisting with other program-related tasks as they arise
