Leadership Austin Seeks Development/Video Production Intern – Apply by December 16

Leadership Austin is a nonprofit organization that ignites passion for community leadership through leadership development programs to help people delve deeply into the critical issues and leadership skills required to keep our community thriving. Leadership Austin is a diverse, non-partisan environment for experiential learning, vital dialogue and superior networking. Members of the Leadership Austin family influence the community in measurable, meaningful ways that exemplify our core values – collaboration, community trusteeship, inclusion and personal responsibility.

Leadership Austin (www.leadershipaustin.org) seeks an unpaid 10-12 hr/week undergraduate Digital Arts/Media OR Social Entrepreneurship for Nonprofits intern for Spring 2014.

The intern will be instrumental in helping Leadership Austin tell its rich 35 year history through conducting numerous in-person video interviews with influential community leaders and alumni. Ultimately, the interviews will be formed into a coherent narrative and compiled into a final 35th Anniversary video.

The video will not only tell Leadership Austin’s story, but be used as an outreach mechanism to continue elevating the profile of the Greater Austin area’s premier leadership development program.


Period of Appointment
: January 13, 2014- May 16, 2014 with the possibility of continuation through Fall 2014

Location: 1609 Shoal Creek Blvd, Ste 202, Austin, TX 78701

Duties:

  • Scheduling/Planning
    • Candidate must be willing to provide availability and be flexible with their schedule to confirm shoot times and locations with the Video Producer
    • Help schedule and coordinate interviews with key alumni (already identified and reached out to by staff)
    • Brainstorm flow of narrative, key use of resources and time
    • Staying in contact and communication with direct supervisor with regular post-interview updates
  • Interviewing
    • Help develop questions and flow for each interview
    • Conduct video interviews with identified alumni and community leaders
    • Compile, transcribe and develop interview snapshots/overviews for reporting & marketing purposes
  • Video Production
    • Take video interviews and develop/produce 35th Anniversary video
      • NOTE: Under the supervision of the Video Producer, the intern will have a lot of creative influence to make the video their own, develop the narrative, add in visual/digital arts or infographics to make the final production a success
    • Ideally, video to be completed by May 9, 2014 for our fundraiser, Best Party Ever
      • Intern asked to attend gala and be part of development team
  • Projects and Research
    • Help direct supervisor scope out ways to continue the narrative beyond completion of the video
    • Strategize ways to supplement existing, archived materials into cogent, long-term narrative

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including writing to deadline and for a variety of audiences
  • Familiarity with and access to video production equipment
    • Must be able to develop and design production video for immediate consumption on a variety of platforms (including social media properties)
    • Applicants must be personable, well-organized, resourceful and persistent
    • Previous work in an digital arts/video production requested
    • Previous work in nonprofit setting is a plus

Compensation: This position is unpaid but the selected student can register to take this internship for course credit, if permissible by your degree program.

Texas Student Media Seeks Digital Interns – Apply by 11/26

The Texas Student Media digital team has responded to the radical shifts happening in the news and media industries by expanding its digital advertising offerings, which has to historically been limited to banner ads, to new, engaging and sponsorable platforms.

Join the TSM digital team as they help shape the digital future of all the TSM properties. They need talented UT students to help fill the following internship positions:

1-2 Digital Media Coordinators
– Help set up and creatively expand on the new and old advertising platforms like traditional banner ads, the Daily Digest, Social Giveaway Contests and Sponsored content
-Work with team members and coordinate advertising platforms to unite all of the TSM properties like the Daily Texan, KVRX and Texas Travesty
-Make sure content on the advertising platforms are streamlined and segmented to the right audience

1-2 Digital Advertising Coordinators
– Work with the TSM sales team to reach out and nurture prospective advertisers and generate revenue among all the TSM’s digital advertising platforms
– Investigate new advertising client opportunities with tools like Reference USA
– Use digital data statistics to appeal to and encourage advertisers to invest in TSM’s media and report on how their campaigns are doing

1-3 Digital Inbound Marketers
– Build Traffic to TSM sites using the latest SEO, link building, Social Media and other digital marketing tactics
– Analyze analytic platforms like Google Analytics to and report interesting insights that will help increase and retain traffic flow
– Make sure that the traffic is going to desired sections on of TSM sites and converting into Daily Digest and advertising leads
– Work with TSM and Daily Texan developers to implement inbound marketing strategies

Texas Music Office Hiring Spring 2014 Interns – 11/15 Deadline

TEXAS  MUSIC  OFFICE Spring 2014 Internships Available

The internship program of the Texas Music Office (TMO) in the Office of the Governor offers college students the opportunity to develop a working knowledge of the music industry. The TMO seeks students with excellent communication skills who want to learn how the music industry works, and who want to contribute to the TMO’s research, web publishing and marketing efforts.

TMO internship recipients are required to work at least 12 (and as many as 20) hours each week researching and marketing Texas music businesses, events and talent. Responsibilities include: interviewing Texas music businesses owners; developing business statements based on these interviews; inputting information into the TMO’s Business Referral Network using FileMaker Pro  software; responding to information requests from industry professionals and the general public; and researching Texas music on the web. Interns also assist TMO staff with administrative duties approximately 20 percent of the time. TMO internships are on a volunteer basis.

The Texas Music Office is the information clearinghouse for the Texas music industry, and is the sister office to the Texas Film Commission. Our website contains 18,000 business, band or event listings totaling 2,744 printed pages and attracts nearly 400,000 unique visitors annually. Internship recipients work closely with TMO staff in compiling and publishing this information, and your work is credited online.

Getting started in the Texas music business isn’t easy. TMO internships are an excellent means to become aware of important professional contacts who make music their business.
