Cook, Learn, Grow is a team of professionally trained educators and chefs that work in partnership with schools and communities to lead unique food literacy programs which allow young people to learn critical life skills, gain tools for creative expression and have successful experiences that build self-esteem and confidence.

Cook, Learn, Grow has openings for PART-TIME kid’s cooking instructors for the After School Cooking Programs.

Cook, Learn, Grow has internships for Kid’s Cooking Instructor for our Afterschool Program.

Overall Instructor Internship Description: Lead children’s hands-on afterschool cooking classes. Classes held in Lakeway, Bee Cave, Austin, Dripping Springs, Leander, Round Rock

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving to various locations in and around Austin to teach provided food literacy/cooking curriculum
  • Prepare for Cook, Learn, Grow lessons; run class related errands including but not limited to grocery shopping, prepping/cleaning for class, etc.
  • Maintain safe and engaging classroom environment
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with children, parents andother Cook, Learn, Grow staff.Qualifications:
  • Possess strong cooking skills
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working face-to-face with children
  • Passionate about teaching children about food
  • Excellent ability to engage and manage children
  • Able to commit for a 4-month minimum
  • Available 2-5pm, M-F, 1-5 days depending on enrollment
  • Pass background check & fingerprinting
  • Have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills

Internship with Sanctuary Yoga

Sanctuary Yoga and the Amala Foundation are seeking a highly motivated intern. (Sanctuaryyogaaustin.com, amalafoundation.org) 

Sanctuary Yoga is the only non-profit  yoga studio in Austin that offers an intimate space devoted to the deepening and upliftment of humanity. All proceeds from Sanctuary Yoga support the youth programs of the Amala Foundation, a 501c(3) that unites youth from all walks of life and inspires them to grow as individuals and as leaders in service to humanity. 

This opportunity offers an unforgettable internship experience for someone interested in learning about all aspects of running a small organization.  It offers students a hands-on immersion in management, administration, public relations, programming, marketing, finances, operations, customer service and small business administration as well as insight into nonprofit management. 

Skills required:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Great interpersonal skills, customer service and a love of dealing with the public
  • Creativity, initiative and the ability to gracefully introduce yourself to new people
  • Computer proficiency and skills in Word and basic research
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to approach challenges in a creative, positive and team-centered manner
  • Available to work hours that meet the general operational needs of the studio
  • Experience with Social Media management

Upcoming Deadling: Semester in Los Angeles (UTLA) Program

Live, Study, & Intern in the Entertainment Capital of the World!

From the UTLA webpage:

“The UT Semester in Los Angeles Program’s mission is to expose students to the working world of the entertainment industry, and to the people and places who make things happen in Hollywood. Through a combination of working internships with prominent companies, courses taught by working professionals, and guest lectures by prominent industry experts, students get chance to gain the skills and contacts that will make a career in film, television, music or new media possible. Every alumnus of the program comes to Hollywood with a real sense of where and what the jobs are, who to call, and how to present themselves. It is the goal of the program to translate theory into reality, to enable students to start their careers, and to offer real-world support as they begin their journeys.”

Apply for the Semester in Los Angeles (UTLA) Program

The deadline to apply for the Semester in Los Angeles (UTLA) program for Summer 2016 is Saturday, October 31st at 1:30pm CST.  The UTLA program is open to all UT majors.

An information session will be held on the following date: Tuesday, October 20th@3:00PM CST in CMA 5.136. 

This session will be general in nature and intended for anyone with questions about the program, online application, costs, L.A., etc.  Phil Nemy, Executive Director of the UTLA program, will be hosting via video conference.

Future UTLA Application Deadlines:

Fall 2016 – February 15, 2016

Spring 2017 – May 2, 2016
