Spring Internship with EcoRise

EcoRise Youth Innovations inspires a new generation of leaders to design a sustainable future for all. Our school based program empowers youth to tackle real-world challenges in their schools and communities by teaching environmental literacy, social innovation and hands-on design skills.

SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING INTERNS

EcoRise teachers, students, and partners are changing our world for the better and their stories need to be shared. EcoRise seeks extremely creative, motivated college students interested in gaining valuable experience in social entrepreneurship, marketing, design, and social media strategy.

STORYTELLING: Use video and photography to create new content featuring EcoRise students, teachers, and partners.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Assist with the creation, documentation, and management of company-wide social media strategy. Maintain editorial calendar, creating and posting daily / weekly content for the targeted social media platforms.

MARKETING: Work with staff and board of directors to promote the EcoRise voice and brand. Update existing marketing information and create internal documents to establish organizational consistency.

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
+ Convey compelling messages, both in person and in writing
+ Generate creative ideas that align with brand strategies
+ Familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms, specifically Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Other social media platform experience a plus
+ Understanding of WordPress, HTML, video editing software, and the Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) a plus
+ Demonstrate initiative and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines, communicate progress, and collaborate with others
+ Working towards BA/BS degree (Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or other related majors preferred)
+ Available to work 10-15 hours per week, beginning in January through May (full-year internship options available). Interns will receive a stipend and can pursue course credit.

Must be available to work 10-15 hours per week, beginning in January. This is a paid contract position and student applicants can pursue course credit.

Position:

Marketing Intern

Description:

We’re seeking an engaged, ambitious learner with a strong work ethic to dive into all things Marketing and Market Research, providing support to and learning directly from the CEO. This is a rare opportunity to apply your creative and problem solving abilities to 1) conduct market research to learn directly about and from potential consumers, and 2) conceptualize, plan, and execute your own guerrilla marketing campaign for a real B2C brand and service.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the necessary tenacity to get things done, including figuring out how to get those things done, regardless of the circumstances.

While the hours may be flexible, a commitment of at least 10 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks is desired.

If you have interest in entrepreneurship, (real, unglamorized) startup culture, small business operations, or any form of highly autonomous employment, this is a great opportunity to learn from professionals that have experience with a multitude of facets thereof.

Responsibilities

  • Design Instrument or Method for Soliciting Consumer Input and Conducting Market Research
  • Developing and Managing a Guerrilla Marketing Campaign – both to promote conversion and to

    perpetually learn about and from consumers

  • Design and Production of Marketing Resources and Collateral for the Marketing Campaign
  • Execution of the Marketing Campaign
  • Meeting Attendance (including active participation)
  • Wearing of Various Hats as Fitted by the CEO
  • Completion of additional, meaningful Independent Project(s) and/or Independent Research as Proposed

    by the Intern and Approved By the CEO

Required Qualifications:

  • Resolute Initiative and Hustle
  • Can-Do Disposition
  • Genuine Interest in Learning and Application of Learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Holding or Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Marketing or Any Relevant Field

• Excellent Organization, Communication, and Computer Skills (MS Office, Gmail, etc.)

Compensation:

This internship is unpaid and is intended as a hands-on educational opportunity. This internship will enable the successful candidate to obtain valuable, specialized learning and work experience in a broad range of disciplines within Marketing.

The internship may satisfy requirements for earning college credit dependent upon the specific college’s requirements and determined on a case-by-case basis.

The internship may result in a strong employment reference and recommendation and/or job offer, though neither is in any way guaranteed.

If you have interest in entrepreneurship, (real, unglamorized) startup culture, small business operations, or any form of highly autonomous employment, this is a great opportunity to learn from professionals that have experience with a multitude of facets thereof.

The social media intern (will not be treated like an intern), should be entrepreneurial, honest, self motivated, organized and reliable.  The primary focus wouldbe to manage the content distribution for one or more social channels.  A secondary component of the role would be using our social handles to get into conversations which exist outside our community.

Manage Content

– Be the voice of Charity Charge. Help cultivate a community through our topics and messaging

– Find news and articles that are relevant and are aligned with Charity Charge.  This would include but is not limited to topics like Philanthropy, Fundraising,

Charities, Socially Responsible Companies, 1 for 1 Companies, etc.

– Build and schedule content distribution for your assigned channel(s)

Community Management

– Engage with community, answering questions, and showing attention to all mentions

– Explore ideas for how to engage and expand the community through campaigns or posts with a request for action

Social Listening & Outreach

– Engage with users and companies outside of our community.  Outside of our own channels, and outside of people mentioning Charity Charge, there are conversations

that we need to be in.

– The social media intern will need to explore keywords and hashtags to discover relevant discussions to be a part of.

Duties include: help with business development to define, build, and manage the alliance program and outreach

PR + Media Outreach

– Find relative key influencers and bloggers on web and document

– Find and document key media and publishers contact information

– Reach out to the press and influencers along with a follow up

– Write press releases

Content

– Help create content strategy and editorial calendar for company blog

– Create a content repository for ideas concerning blog posts and social assets  

Business Development

– Identify top prospects (Non profits, for profit social impact companies)

– Create plan of action for strategic alliance

– Compile contact information and setup initial key alliance meetings

– Follow-up with alliance partners to execute respective plan of actions

The content strategy intern (will not be treated like an intern), should be entrepreneurial, honest, self motivated, organized and reliable.  The primary focus would be to create a content strategy for online company assets such as blog and social properties.  A secondary component of the role is would be finding new topics to write about and attracting guest bloggers.

Content Discovery

– Help create content strategy and editorial calendar for company blog

– Create a content repository for ideas concerning blog posts and social assets  

– Find news and articles that are relevant and are aligned with Charity Charge.  This would include but is not limited to topics like Philanthropy, Fundraising,

Charities, Socially Responsible Companies, 1 for 1 Companies, etc.

Innovation

– Explore new ways to reach out and appeal to the Charity Charge community through innovative

content

– Examples of future projects would include a weekly show hosted on YouTube or Google Hangout,

guest interviews, etc.

– Find and manage relationships with guest bloggers who align with our messaging

– Create e-mail newsletter subscription list

– Create e-mail newsletter copy and layout
