Museum of Human Achievement Internship Spring 2017

The Museum of Human Achievement is looking for a Development Hero for the spring semester:

Internship
Unpaid
Role
Grant writing, research, and partnership development.

Responsibilities
Research and write grants for various MoHA projects under the supervision and guidance of staff at MoHA and using past library of grant applications. Develop new partnerships with local businesses and organizations.

Intern perks include
Free entry to all MoHA shows, events, and workshops, 24 hour access to tools and space, and letter of recommendation

Interest in nonprofit growth and development, strong writing skills, basic computer skills. Past grant writing experience is a plus, but not necessary.

Texas Archive of the Moving Image Inventory and Item Metadata Intern

The intern will assist the Administrative Coordinator in the management of donated films and videos to the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) and gain a working knowledge of the operations of a small very active non-profit organization. Responsibilities will include inventorying materials into the TAMI database, transcribing item metadata from original objects, evaluating one or more larger collections to determine their suitability for inclusion in the archive, aid in prioritizing collections for preservation, and/or other projects of special interest to the intern.

TAMI is a vibrant non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Texas film heritage. TAMI works to discover Texas “orphan” films and to educate the public about moving image history. TAMI provides an online video library of rediscovered Texas films at www.texasarchive.org; a free digitization program; the Texas Film Round-Up, a traveling educational event highlighting Texas moving image history; and an online educational resource kit for K-12 teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Have an interest and/or background in media, history, and/or archives. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, detail-oriented, responsible and energetic.

Work Hours:
10 to 15 hours/week (flexible)). Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Neill-Cochran House Museum Public Relations Internship

Neill-Cochran House Museum
Description:

The Neill-Cochran House Museum is seeking candidates interested in gaining hands-on experience drafting press releases, contributing editorial content to newsletters, managing web content, and collaborating with graphic design staff while supporting mission-centered messaging at a growing museum/performing arts venue. Successful candidates will leave their semester with writing samples and an understanding of practical communications strategies to increase donations, develop volunteers, and build presence in the community.

Responsibilties:

Maintain a regular 10-15 hour work week; a minimum of 8 hours must be in person at our offices.
Consistently meet deadlines and proactively monitor a master communications calendar
Consistently produce error-free, grammatically correct, and compelling prose.
Attend a weekly, one-on-one supervision meeting with a member of senior staff

Requirements:

Prior experience in fundraising, development, communications, journalism, nonprofits
OR at least one year of college-level study in communications, public relations, journalism, English, or a related field.
